From game point of view, for all I care it can be classified as tank.

So other factions has to use assaulter to certain daily tasks and murricans could do the same with any class ?
That’s why I originally said they should add a new class for light rifles and PDWs, but people kept wining about “if they gave everything it’s own class it would be too complicated” so I removed it.
The Germans already have the same thing but the opposite way around, since the VG1-5 is the only tech tree semi-auto rifle that can be used by assaulter, pilots, and tankers.

Probably because no one uses it, and cant really imagine a situation anyone would use vg for assaulters.
While cant really say same about M2.
Wl there’s only like what? 2-3 PDW’s in the entire game? Very few weapons were adopted for the main purpose of arming backline troops and others who normally only carry a pistol with something with a bit more power than a pistol. Not a whole lot of that category around in WWII. Shoot even the main rifle of the Germans was technically a carbine. Karabiner98k. More or less a shortened Gewehr 98
The M2 is a good general purpose automatic weapon
Stable recoil and 30-round magazine
In my opinion they are a different option than T20
I still use M2 to this day
So I don’t want to have any possibility of being restricted

It seems that there will be a new assault rifle in the next update.
I agree that it makes sense to keep the weapon classes broad but I also think that OP is correct and that the M2 better qualifies as an assault rifle. It’s a select fire magazine fed weapon in an intermediate(esque) cartridge. It pretty handily meets the classification of an assault rifle. It even has similar damage, fire rate, and recoil to the assault rifles. It would be pretty reasonable in my opinion to make it count for assault rifle kills while still leaving it open to all classes it’s currently available for. It would be a bit like how semi automatic pistols count for both pistol kills and semi automatic weapon kills. It would also not be the first time they let a weapon get classified as one thing even though it acts more like another just to allow it to be used by roles that need it. Think of those disgusting BR2 Russian premium sniper rifles that got some reason are counted as a standard infantry rifle despite being scoped and being used exclusively as sniper rifles.
But this IS what should happen tho. And the Hyde should be premium. Enough with the fantasy shit
