No, the post was about a 100 round drum for the Thompson. So I pointed out that it wasn’t used neither by the US nor by the British. The reason why I called it “Type C drum” is because that’s how Thompson drums were called. 50 rounder was called “Type L drum” and 100 rounder - “Type C drum”, from Roman numbers - 50 and 100 respectively.
It has nothing to do with the Beta C-Mag ball sack magazine (it’s a double drum, but, I mean, look at it) besides maybe that the C-Mag also was called like this because of its capacity.
I’ve never seen 100 rd drum in military use (except NKVD unit, don’t remember exactly what unit). For north Africa - only 50rd drums.
IMO, first Thompson for NA might be not M1A1, but M1928A1 with 20rd mag. Just for balance.
