M1 m2 carbine recoil issue

In the current game setup, the m1 / m2 carbine are just about useless weapons.
yes the sights are terrible, and that contributes but more importantly so are the stats game balance wise.
it just does not perform the way that guns similar to it do.
Its role as I see is as a semi-auto / auto heavy smg - “proto assault rifle”.
the 30 carbine round ballistics fit in the middle of a .45 ACP and the 7.95x33
So why so much recoil? why such a low ROF on the m1? It is not a full sized semiauto rifle, more like a semi -auto SMG.
Its not the damage that disturbs me, so much as recoil. It should fit more inline with the weapons that is similar to. the ROF as well. the m1 carbine has an abysmally low DPS.

the m1 carbine currently has 54 - 44 recoil,
the m2 is more modest at 50 - 43.
the Thomson with its .45 is 27.
for its direct alternative: the mp43 is 26 - 22 and the mkB is 38 in stalingrad…
the FG42 with its full sized round is only 47!

the m1/m2 should match those similar weapons. I feel the Gewehr 43 Kurz would be a good baseline on stats and fire rate, with the carbine being slightly less potent, but slightly more controllable.
that would give it more the hybrid role it was intended for.

@Rickyd123 !!!

I strongly disagree about the m1 being useless (don’t know about m2, I don’t play Normandy much and don’t have it)
But the m1 is criminally underestimated by the playerbase. It’s so easy to double tap enemies with it, really quickly. Not only that, it even works well at mid range as the damage per distance drop is not too big. Good tool I use extensively with my allies in Tunisia.

I do agree it could have less recoil, though

I’d simply use it even more, eheheh :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Considering he is talking and Normandy and not Tunisia then yes the m1c is useless for most because garand is 2 lvls away and as for m2c it’s a great gun for general infantry but lacks the versatility that fg42 has

I lied, I do have ONE m2 (the gold order one). I used it as an smg, wasn’t bad  this one is assaulter only for some reason…

I think the biggest problem is the kickback from the recoil: it appears to throw your shoulder back so far your face is about to hit the sight.

It’s stronger than much more powerful rifles in the game and really throws off your aim. I wouldn’t mind the recoil if the shooter could keep his shoulders square

Well, thing is, the carbines are incredibly light weapons, which would give them significantly higher recoil than SMGs. It’s empty weight is just 2.4kg, while an M1A1 thompson weighs 4.5kg empty. And the cartridge is a bit hotter. So it’s recoil makes sense. I don’t have a huge issue with it in game either. The only real issues are the rof on the M1 and the sight on the M2. If those were adjusted, they’d be amazing weapons.

The gun itself makes the most amount of sense as an smg since it’s basically one anyways but the two difference between m2 and m2a1 is that m2 fires slower (no rpm upgrades like fg42s, Avt and Avs), and you are muuuch closer to the sight which can be difficult to the inexperienced

It’s also a hipfire king, you can run and gun with it and shoot from the hip with astonishing accuracy and if you do need to aim, the unzoomed ADS is actually pretty nice too

Reminds me of the Kiraly  gun is really not that good at range because of it’s dispersion and terrible recoil. It really shine in cqb while hipfiring however. Love the thing.

One day when I decide to grind Normandy I’ll probably deck some troops with those

If you need someone to grind with for Normandy, I’ll happily help you

I get more kills with M2’s then any other weapon.

It’s all about HOW you use them. I’m NOT going to tell you. But, try playing around with them in different ways.

When using the M2 carbine, if you have some distance to cover, try firing in bursts of 2~3 rounds each.
Once you get used to it, the suppression capability is unmatched. It is a very strong weapon.

+150% speed of changing pose, bind shooting + prone to mouse1.
Proceed to dodge every single bullet coming at you & enjoying kiraly with 0 recoil.

oof I’ve atempted one match of Normandy earlier today for the event…

Campaign is such a shit show, I ended up buying the event point instead of completing it. I hate beach maps with passion, it’s only spawn then die from plane bombs, grey zone tanks and snipers… I don’t know how you do, but I tip my hat to you for enduring this

with friends, premium time, some music and an ungodly amount of soda allowed me to grind both sides to max (axis was easier since i was already maxed out before the major XD)

Ive spent some time with the guns, and the M1 I still feel is very underwhelming in Normandy. The fact that you get the Garand almost right after, and with the shear amount of automatic firepower that is used in the campaign really defeats its usefulness.
In Tunisia however I’ve found it more useful since your going up against mainly bolt action troops and it works well at close range. The dispersion and ROF hurts it though.

The M2 - Is a hip fire king. It also works well at longer ranges for area suppression if you go prone and treat it more like an LMG. Its sights really let it down however.

I think both guns work best in a dual gun setup with something more long ranged.
