M1 Carbine as US default w/ Poll

Both cases require added effort and concentration on the side of the shooter which will hurt the ability to pay attention to what else is going on around them. Once you take the conscious action of moving the selector switch, you can operate at the RoF you want unconsciously, as opposed to consciously controlling RoF for every shot when you stay on auto.

That would be the price to pay for the M1c doing 30%+ more damage than the MP

Good thing those 2 aren’t halfway comparable.

I am surprised though that I’m the only one so far of those who voted to use the M1 who also voted to nerf it first. Inside 400m (so all fighting in Enlisted) the M1 is practically equal to the Kar98, which I feel shouldn’t be the case with a PDW cartridge that historically performed between pistol cartridges and the stg 44.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that full powered rifle cartridges have crazy bad damage falloff in game.

.30 Carbine should also have quite a bit of drop up to about 300 yards, which was considered closer to it’s maximum useable range

I like the idea but isn’t M1 carbine a bit unreliable at ranges?
I voted for replacement without nerfs but honestly, I would rather buff the M1 carbine to deal the same amount of damage as StG-44.
Now I know StG-44’s bullet is a little bit stronger but I’m talking about balance because M1 Carbine is semi automatic

I’ll put a poll to see what people think:
[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]

  • M1 Carbine should deal less damage than the StG
  • M1 Carbine should deal more/same amount of damage compared to the StG
    [/poll]

I disagree with having .30 Carbine being as powerful as 8mm Kurz tbh. Realistically, the Kurz cartridge was just plain superior to .30 Carbine, ballistically and energetically speaking.

Perhaps an argument can be made that since .30 Carbine uses a blunter bullet, that it would transfer energy into it’s target better without over penetrating, but even with that, it would be notably inferior in keeping it’s energy at range, and has a lower range overall

But you have to understand I’m talking about this for balance reasons

Plus why are you saying this if I literally said

M1 Carbine was the worst weapon during the Normandy playtest. And looking at it now, it still deals very little damage (7.3).

If it just gets buffed to 8.0 damage which is still worse than StG by 0.5

Also to add that devs aren’t really taking the damage-by-calibre path because 9mm parabellum deals more damage than more powerful 7.62mm calibre.

And also I don’t want StG to become an overpowered wehraboo dream weapon in this game too

He probably never used it
Just like he complained how OP soviets are with their sniper SVT even though SVT was garbage back then

M1 Carbine was primarily useless in the play test because it’s recoil was horrible. Fix that and it’s a nice usable weapon. I’m not entirely interested on changing things purely for balance; this game is supposed to be asymmetrically balanced.

Also, 9mm, even though it has lower energy than 7.62 Tokarev, it has a larger diameter bullet, meaning it transfers energy into the target better. It’s not always about the raw energy of the bullet. In that

In this case, devs shall give German troops Gewehr 43’s by default

I want asymmetrical balance too but the main problem is that some players like Tcat and Erika want symmetrical balance more than asymmetrical.

And considering how equal teams in CBT are, I think devs are listening to them more than they are listening to us even if polls have proven that players who want asymmetrical balance are the majority
They even managed to implement the tanks using the equal battle level from a game warthunder (both M4a2 and Pz-4J are level 4.0 in WT, both t-28 and Pz-4F1 are level 2.7 in WT)

So right now, the level of asymmetrical balance in Enlisted sits at 0%

But 7.62 should at least
have less damage fall-off considering it has more power than 9mm

It’s tricky. 7.62 Tokarev used a lighter bullet compared to 9mm. It could have comparable or more energy loss than 9mm does, though I don’t know for sure.

Lol what?

M1 is semi automatic

Nobody prevents you from spam clicking

I can’t vote for some reason, that’s weird

Just tell what would you choose so devs can know

First it isn’t fair to compare the M1 carbine to the kar 98k I think you’ll forget that normal troops can’t use semi auto guns, only spacial troops (the ones that use auto guns and ARs).so when someone start the game he gonna get 3 M1 carbines but can’t use them at all because he needs the spacial troops.
Edit: well you can ( I thought you couldn’t) so just ignore this…

Second as someone who fired a semi auto gun, it’s almost impossible to get up to the maximum rate of fire (that’s why we moved to auto wepons with Berst of 3-4 shoots)

Third, why you try to balance guns based calibers??? The game already work on HP system and not realistic one, no gun “did more damage” IRL because that isn’t how it works. Guns with bigger caliber shouldn’t do more damage, (at least in my opinion) we shouldn’t balance guns damage over caliber it’ll create a really unbalanced game…

I absolutely agree
See here:

Again I agree, it’s hard to auto-fire a semi automatic gun in real life and in Enlisted too
