Multiple nerfs have been introduced to flamethrowers in the past. Directly and indirecty. To note some:
Forced walk during firing.
Increased time necessary before target burns from the spray.
Increased time necessary before soldiers start burning from patches of fire on the ground.
Targeted bots less likely to immediately start putting fires out, making them more likely to retaliate at someone actively trying to set them on fire.
Perk system rework makes the 100% fire extinguishing perk essentially a free perk for most soldiers, reducing the impact of flamethrowers and fires against soldiers by increasing the time necessary to react to getting set on fire and putting it out.
Given the performance of flamethrowers in light of their multiple nerfs, I don’t see any reason why the 1st and 2nd flamethrower unlocks should be confined to BR 3 and 4, respectively.
Automatic weapons are more efficient and have far less drawbacks by comparison. Especially when the squad can only have 2 flamethrowers, at a time.
Lower the 1st tier flamethrower to BR 2.
The 2nd tier flamethrower to BR 3.
Good idea. A few years ago when flamethrowers can run and gun I would have put them in BR3, but after all of the nerfs I basically never touch them. The low end flamethrowers would be fine in BR2
After all, the italian paratroopers can use them there
been playing br5 germans to get flamer footage for a guide and i was shocked how weak/bad even the strong flamethrowers are.
the series of nerfs ruined that weapon power wise and the low quality flame graphics ruin it even further.
lowering BRs by 1 will adjust them perfectly & make new players happy to have more weapon types available.

→ no they wont, id rather have enemies spam short range flame throwers against me than a mp40, as every good br2 smg is stronger & harder to defeat than the weak flamethrower.
Alternatively they could be better at hitting stuff behind cover (like around corners or behind windows etc) but I have a feeling this would spectacularly backfire by introducing some bugs/exploits or would be simply too annoying.
Same, their damage was never an issue. The main complain of many ppl (from what I’ve observed) was the jumping inside the objective and spinning like a madman thing.
The lack of variety in BR 1 is largely a problem with what the devs think a BR 1 player should and shouldn’t have access to. I’ve already asked for LMGs to have their minimum BR lowered to 1, for example, and it isn’t a stretch to ask the devs to lower the basic TT APCs to BR 1, either.
If their damage was never an issue, I don’t see why you brought up buffing flamethrower damage.
This is already possible in multi-floor buildings where you point the flamethrower at the ceiling and the flames would reach the floor above. Though it’s likely unintended, and even unnecessary when there are windows to the upper floors.
Incendiary weapons being powerful and then being nerfed to uselessness is a tale as old as time.
