How will the game stay fresh for years to come? There were only so many weapons made in the Second World War. Do we accept experimental weapons? Or do we go beyond WW2? Or, do we just get maps until the end? I now realized that campaigns — while repetitive — provided content and a grind. Which would keep people playing even if it meant they had to get the MP 40 for a 6th time, in fact, iconic weapons could even serve as motivation.
The developers have proposed a system in a post about how to introduce content in the future:
New campaigns with new unique locations, squads, weapons and vehicles, as well as new game mechanics will be launched in the format of a global event, in which any commander can participate. During these events, you will get upgraded and well-armed squads under your command, and for completing battle tasks — unique rewards that can be received only during the event.
And after such events, new weapons and vehicles will be added to the progression trees of the corresponding armies, and missions will be included in the common pool of available maps.
But will this be enough? And how long could it go on for? Maybe some maps could be availible for a limited time and never permanently introduced? Such as historical events like the Normandy Landings, Battle of Kursk, and Battle of Midway?
