Limited Friendly Fire

I thought I’d never say that, but it appears we desperately need limited friendly fire. After being subjected to continuous artillery pounding for five minutes, all the while hostile infantry streamed into the command point, I come to the conclusion that we ought to do something about that. And that is to deny the area not only to hostiles, but also to allies of the artillery-user.

I personally am in favor of total friendly fire as that discourages grenade spam and other similarly stupid things, but I can understand if some people would not enjoy that.

Well the biggest issue here is intended team-killing,
The arty covers a large area and deals quite a lot of damage so you could wipe out your entire team (on accident for clueless newbies, intentious for more malicious players) and have that result in a match loss (enemies cap the point before your team recovers, etc.

Especially on invasion maps most players are clustered around one point so friendly fire would be even more dangerous.

Definitely in support of it. War Thunder used to have total friendly fire, but after the start of the Crimea crisis, there were too many deliberate friendly fire incidents on the ground, so friendly fire became limited to artillery and anything involving planes.

In Enlisted, it definitely needs to apply to artillery, mortars, and anything going to or from a plane as well.

Grenades not so much because bots can throw grenades, and deliberate friendly fire with grenades would be much easier.

Sadly, to apply full scale friendly fire we also need to have countermeasures to people who intentionally kill their own. And with absence of literal game´s economy, there is no way how to punish or discourage them from doing so either (for example, big currency penalty for friendly fire in War Thunder and even that does not work reliably to prevent this).
As I have said few times on this forum already, don´t rely on your fellow teammates to be gentlemen, because they are not. They usually will take any oportunity available to profit even if it is on expense of others or kill entire team of teammates just for their pleasure, if you allow them to.
As much as I would like to see full friendly fire (casualties of accidental friendly fire were very common in WW2) , there is no way how we can punish those who decide to just kill even their teammates, because why not, since the respect to life of your comrades in war is definitely not present in games and relies only on each player´s discretion or honour (which thanks to the “anonymity” of the internet is often zero).

To boot it’s a higher risk in Enlisted even with economy because respawns determine who wins in invasion.

I’ve already seen someone deliberately sabotaging the other team by repeatedly killing themself in the kill feed. As of right now the game locks you out after your 10th squad death, so this guy wound up 0/10

At first I thought this thread was opposed to friendly fire. Thankfully I thought wrong lol.

I agree. I want full team damage . It will negate run and gun and explosive spam.

indeed need complete friendly fire…abusers/teamkilling will get their score deducted plus will have increased time to respawn in a battle …and in future a report system too

It would have to be extremely fast report system that is fair. People may cause it by accident and be reported by some salty madman, but if they aren´t they dont give a hell about score or anything, they do that just to watch world burn.
I don´t know how that can work.

SO no friendly fire is the only solution?

Like I said before, migrating War Thunder’s system to allow indirect friendly fire only is the compromise.

So the following should be FF enabled:
-artillery
-mortars
-anything coming from a plane or hitting a plane

The reason it became limited was because at the start of the Crimea crisis, players would put Russian or Ukrainian flags on their tanks in war thunder, and would start shooting at friendly players with a flag of the opposing side.

Some shooting of American flags went down too.

Most shooters already have a nigh perfect system: If you kill a certain amount of friendlies (Let’s say 14 in this game, as squad sizes can go up to 7) you get removed from the server and get no rewards whatsoever. In some games, you’re also banned from participating in another game for first 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 30 minutes, etc. up to month or year bans for repeat offenders.
