Until I experienced the merge, I thought of light tanks and armored vehicles as placeholders until I could get decent tanks like the Sherman or Panzer IV.
However, after playing with low BR after merging, I realized that they have excellent abilities of "speed"and “smallness.”
You can move quickly to support infantry, and depending on the map, you may be able to quickly sneak around to the flanks or rear to hunt higher-ranking Tigers and Jumbos.
Do you use light tanks or armored vehicles? If you love it, please let me know if you have any good advice.
i only use apc since most map are too small to flank for me and beside those tiger 2 always hide in gray zone
I’m using BT-7A (F-32) and it’s great with it’s maneuverability and firepower, Puma for the Axis is superior to pz3j/1
Recently I’ve been trying to use bikes (again) but with limited luck. They handle poorly even on the roads and their terrain performance is pure shit, not ideal for flanking. But I want to make fully motorised/mechanised loadout when f2p APCs come so I want to be ready.
I kitted my motorbike with silenced grease guns and mines.
Can cause alot of havoc at the beginning of an assault at the defenders built rallies lol
I never expected to see anyone using a motorcycle.
Is it helpful?
Eh, it’s handling is VERY poor. It’s constantly turning left and it’s sliding all the time even on good roads. I hope it will get fixed before I remove this sqad from my lineup.
Except for that, it’s ok-ish. You can pull off some nice actions but imo if you are limited to f2p slots, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are better squads in terms of uesfullness.
Looks challenging and interesting! There are a lot of slots, so I’ll try them out too!
So, I saw someone in Normandy the other day doing some pretty impressive things with his motorcycle. It felt like a mobile HMG.
as Voyo said. Handling sucks. But You can scoot around the flank soo fast. If you do it at the very beginning most people dont tend to notice. I ambushed a few tanks and rally trucks still on their way to the map…
It’s absolutely hilarious to be wrecking late model 190s, 109s and setting King Tigers on fire in the soviet BR1 Hurricane
Some of the best light tanks in the game now are the two FT tanks from the Stalingrad campaign. They are fn awesome stalemate breakers as ppl don’t know how to deal with them effectively, particularly if you get a bit of flatter ground to operate on.
They are both monsters vs unsuspecting infantry and I’ve used them in counter rushes to a very nasty effect. I will just flank and drive straight into a rushing wave of enemy soldiers when the opportunity presents itself, generally right after a cap is lost / taken.
They are very very powerful, particularly for the ridiculously low BR they are in.
You think we gonna get “lighter” versions of premium APCs?
Or just wishful thinking?
I wonder if progression versions can be without MGs on top, just transport.
Or maybe premium sdfkz 251’s younger brother sdkfz 250.
For US and USSR though I can only think of the same M3 scout car.
yes, armored cars were fun before, but now can even be better or more enjoyable.
bought the ba-11 ( finally, after a long time ) and it’s unironically the best ( perhaps second ) armored car. not best for it’s mobility, but slapping and destroying panzer IV Js it’s truly something else.
i would rank it as 2nd place after the puma / m8 grehound, and before the daimler armored car.
such fun times
3 grenade bag plus smokes to close in and get in the sides ( if… you can reach them )
ah. a fellow fully motorized enjoyer fella.
keep up the good work.
the road may look difficult and tideous, but it’s an existing life
Oh man the Pz II F is a truly scary danger pancake, its so fast and tiny. I’ve seen people just get behind the objective and utterly cut it off from any reinforcements. Requires your team to actually MOVE THEIR ASSES for it to work though
Haven’t really seem people use the Soviet one, its way slower, submissive and pennable.
As for the armoured cars, it’s weird M8 isn’t getting spammed A LOT - but i guess low tier US is mostly played by new people getting stomped
i believe it’s more for the fact that it’s premium.
and might not be really appealing to alot of people
which… unfortunately just like apc, they suffer from bomb pressure even if you are hidden behind a mountain or building.
the blast will still kill you.
but for the rest, pretty great.
Greyhound handles like any other wheeled truck off-road - that is to say, you’ll get stuck everywhere. Even A13 basic tank or something like Grant are more maneuverable in comparison.
Imo it’s a matter of time untill we get free APCs. It’s free money for the devs.
I just hope they will be in the tech tree and not some kind of stupid event.
Interesting - this potentially sounds like a good way to place anti tank mines behind enemy lines.
Ive seen people try all kinds of sneaky stuff
AT mines, scuffed rallies in weird places.
Sadly it seems that the wheeled drive model isn’t to great, half the time they don’t seem that much faster than just walking
