The title says it all, all my last 50 games were abysmall, how is my team supposed to push when 3/4 of them have Gewehr 33s and the enemy spams PPSh-s and T-50s, its not limited to Moscow either, out of 10 games on Normandy only 4 of them had teammates that had any sense of automatic weaponry in the form of the Grease Gun. I get the counter argument that level based matchmaking would make battles a tryhard fest and possibly add longer queue times but currently the discrepancy in level gap is ridiculous.
Dev can’t even put the same number of real player in each side, let alone make a level brackets matchmaking :v
A gear score would be better but even then
Hell no.
Not brackets. NEVER something that restricts. Instead, an even number of lvl for both team by taking the sum of every team member into account.
That should be the best option since any other possible form will lead to true seal clubbers like in war Thunder
Then what about those that dont equip then end game stuff
I would be more in favour of gear score type of matchmaking.
Level is not everything (you can literally buy your way through entire campaign) so it can´t really be used as effective measure.
Guess thats on you and your skill level. Surely you will still use the best tanks and planes. People can be really good with bolt actions
High level weapons do not make you good. Low level weapons do not make you bad
I main bolt actions in Normandy, with Vanilla squads, am not more than lvl 12 both sides yet finish first 85% of the time
A “bracket” mm wouldn’t work, AND suck. I maintain my “both teams having the same sum of lvl total between players”: both teams would be equal in strength AND there would be nothing to ruin gameplay by making it only try hards vs themselves at higher lvls or boring low lvl matchs for newcomers.
Slso, a “bracket” mm would divide player base even more…
I use almost all M1 Garands in Normandy with one assaulter per squad and still top the board. Its the player skill and by the high 20s you should be pretty good
The issue I see with this leveling sum matchmaking is that this in some cases are not actually level out the teams but put a few high ranking players and a bunch of low ranking players in a match on each side. I already see this issue in A LOT of my matches where you see a huge divide between the top 3-5 players who have over a hundred kills and everyone else barely making it to 50 or 60. The high ranking players also always get the badges at the end so they keep consuming the extra xp that could be desperately used by new players to unlock more squads and have a more dynamic play style. There is already a problem with the leveling curve and this level sum matchmaking may just increase this problem. Besides, a bracket matchmaking system may increase queue time but tbh I dont think its going to be absurdly long since I got a match almost instantly whenever I have play any team checked off but everyone may want to switch to any server but that’s not a big problem for most people.
Ah! That’s where you are wrong. See myself in Normandy for example: I’m lvl 12 for both sides. Only 12. Yet I’m one of those ending the match with hundreds of kills at the very top (I’m high lvl in OTHER campaigns)
What I mean is: lvl does not matter. The onlything those brackets would do is restrict gameplay more, I would STILL destroy my opponents in Normandy, being just lvl 12.
But I know what you mean and understand your concern… my suggestion is not perfect, of that I am aware, but I’m positive it’s better than a bracket mm. There’s a certain joy in blowing up a jumbo scrub or big cat werhaboo using only a filthy rifleman from the first squad. Brackets would remove that joy and any sense of diversity you could find in game; everyone would have the exact same mirrored equipment and that would be an absolute bore.
There’s the option of adding brackets for CUSTOM matchs though… And I’m surprised the devs didn’t add the option to do so yet
Your not wrong. You could be lvl 33, have a full squad of fg42s, and have every squad member be so experienced that they all have iron crosses 1st class and still be bad at the game. However, you have to look at the general effect which is better equipment tends to lead to more effective on the battlefield. Though I think this only applies mostly to new players since starting equipment tends to be bad (especially axis smgs). Equipment and levels seem to take quite a smaller effect when players reach level 8-9, probably because you get decent stuff that can really be effective against nearly everything. Anyways, my point is that how the game functions new players sort of need a circle of protection until they reach a certain level to fight high level players. My favorite example of this happens to me very often when a enemy has a bomber(I think the lowest level to get bombers is lvl 18???) versus me whos level 3 and a bunch of other guys who are also using the vanilla squads and the few high ranking players we have dont have engies in their line up so we have 0 AA to counter, my absolute pain .
Though I do kinda see where your coming from. A lot of veteran players have made concerns about a level matchmaking system in the discord and how games for them would become very competitive due to tryhards. Hopefully devs could make a system that protects new players but also try to keep high lvl games non tryharding where you think you ended up in a CSGO match.
This might be a way to a solution
It could even be a certain fixed number of battles before joining normal ones where everything is available.
Could be “training” battles vs bots (though we have it in custom, new players might not even be aware of it)
It’s true the devs must do something eventually.
