Always made sense to me to limit the infantry only slots in enlisted for infantry only squads
but it never made sense why the player can’t use a vehicle slot to bring an infantry squad in its place
what’s the big deal?

This is because, we need targe…errr, ppl to support the team with vehicles!

Since I, as paying player with 10 slots in every campaign, can take up to 6 vehicle slots (full rotation of planes and tanks).
And don’t forget, special slors for premium units are planned. So the difference will be even bigger. 
F2P players should have at least 6 slots. One full ration for vehicles and 3 slots for infantry (for situation when vehicle slots are blocked)
If F2P isn’t interested in any vehicle, he should be able to fill all of his 6 six slots with infantry. I think this should be pure standard, nothing less.
And I don’t mind if vehicle slots would be more often blocked.

In THEORY, vehicle support is supposed to help in certain situations that infantry are unlikely able to handle on their own.
However, with the way this game has developed, infantry are allowed to deal with vehicles, especially tanks, before they can accomplish the task that they are supposed to do/ role to fill.

Its especially annoying to have to bring a vehicle squad when you know you don’t want/can’t use it.

That would be great, sometimes I’ll bring a fighter or tank for fun and just not use it all match because slots are full or the map just sucks for it. It can be pretty rough when I’m leveling up a new squad or 2 and lose all the established strength of my regulars, I basically drop back to new player status until I can fill up the specialist slots again in them.

the free choice would be great, I’m not playing vehicles at all and I could use one more infantry squad more
