Add lend-lease weapons that both the Soviets and the Western Allied coalition used to both tech trees, but make it so that if you unlock a weapon in one tech tree, it is automatically unlocked in the other tech tree. Doing this will allow for more additions to the Soviet tech tree without having to grind for a weapon you had previously unlocked in another tech tree.
Example 1:
The M21/28 Thompson box mag variant is added to the Soviet tech tree, but I have already unlocked it in the American tech tree. Because I unlocked it in the American tech tree, it will automatically be unlocked in the Soviet tech tree.
Example 2:
The M1928 Thompson drum mag variant is added to the Soviet and American tech trees. If I were to unlock the M1928 Thompson in the Soviet tech tree first, it would be automatically unlocked in the American tech tree.
Not a bad idea… But lean it more on the “lend” part. Maybe allow the unlocking of it, and purchase at a discount, but it’s only available for use in a set number of battles, as opposed to a permanent thing.
The Soviets were permanently given equipment from the Western Allies for a price later on. After the war, the Soviets paid for the cost of weapons and vehicles; they didn’t have to pay anymore. Why would you want players to have to pay rent money for their guns when they already purchased them? The Soviets didn’t have to keep paying money after they repaid the total cost for the equipment given to them, so why should the Enlisted player base have to? You are still paying for these weapons in the store, so it’s not like it is free or anything.
You’d be paying for the privilige to use them in battles which goes against the standard tech-tree/faction battle.
I mean, it’s just a thought, right? Like I said, it’s not a bad idea initially, but unlocking a weapon in one TT that automatically unlocks it for another faction would literally ruin the base concept of the current TT.
I like the idea, but it should really focus on the lending side of things, which is where my hypothetical solution comes from. Discount purchase, but only for a set battle count. Let it be generous too, 10 battles or something.
If its just renting an a weapon, I for one know I would likely never use the feature.
Hence I wanted to offer instead that you might only be able to unlock the lend lease version after unlocking the weapon in the main tech tree of wherever that weapon came from, I mean being honest, unlocking it via the US tree first, and then it unlocks to be researched in the soviet tree
How? You still have to unlock the weapon in either tech tree; you still have to purchase it and upgrade it with silver; you still have to earn squad upgrades to unlock the ability to upgrade the weapon, so how will it ruin the current tech tree?
You’re suggesting that unlocking the weapon for one TT will automatically unlock it for another, with no extra outlay… You can see how mad that sounds, right?
I don’t see the point of that, tbh. I want more land-lease stuff for the Commies, but I dont see any reason why the Soviets and Allies should get an artificial research buff. Otherwise, please also do it for the Panzerfäuste.
I don’t. Even if you were to unlock the M21/28 Thompson in the Soviets first, you can still not unlock the next US smg after the M21/28 if all the previous ones are not unlocked. And it’s not like every weapon from the US tech tree will be in there, so there is no skipping.
I thought it was a majority consensus that everyone didn’t like grinding for weapons they previously unlocked in another tech tree because it was annoying to grind for it again and lazy work by devs. Wasn’t that one of the main concerns for adding and implementing sub-factions in the game?
I only did it between the US and the Soviets because they were Allies. If Germany and Japan shared weapons, or if Italy was made into a sub-faction of Germany, I most definitely would.
Didn’t the Russian already have M21/28 thomson in Stalingrad campaign? It was exclusive to Stalingrad owner thing and now it gone (and it wasn’t free like mp717)
My idea is slightly different. I think land leases and captured weapons should be locked by default and can only be researched again after being researched by the country that owns them.
If you want to use bazooka in soviet, you must grind US to T2 at least, for panzerfaust100 that mean german T4 at least.
This will increase the motivation for players to grind through all factions.
