Legacy Squads - idea on obtaining them

Hello,

I have a suggestion about giving new and old players the chance to get legacy squads or at least some.

Many of the current weapons and equipment in game is kind of fodder, just something to research until you get to the actual meta-equipment and that is sad because all of them deserve some love and purpose.

As such, to incentivise people in using the non-meta equipment, how about you have legacy squads attached to those weapons/vehicles. In order for you to be able to unlock them and buy them you need to complete a certain challenge with that particular weapon, for example, you would need to headshot 200 soldiers with the Carcano M38 in order to unlock the legacy squad from old Campaign system.

As the BR progresses the challenges can become more difficult. The squads will come only with Riflemen and basic equipment if deemed too advantageous.

I believe, this way, there will be more variety during battles, people using more than just the meta weapons/vehicles and it will also give people more things to look forward to.

Just an idea, what do you guys think?

TLDR: Research weapon/vehicle → Buy weapon/vehicle → Play weapon/vehicle → Complete challenges → Unlock Legacy Squad (for a fee or not)

You can edit, but also this would be an acceptable way to get squad to me. Not the challenges but research.

200 headshots and you get a legacy squad? Seems a bit low for a high tier reward. That sounds more like a 3000 silver challenge.

10k headshots sounds more appropriate. Remember these squads are exclusive and highly sought after, they would lose all value if they were just given away with such an easy challenge. Make the challenge hard and require a bit of a grind.

A fitting challenge to get the MP40 suppressed squad would be: Obtain 5000 kills with suppressed weapons. This would require players to spend their gold weapon orders on a suppressed weapon first, thus making the challenge more difficult.

How is that evil? Do you expect all things to be given to you on a silver platter for free?

You weren’t there to grind for those squads, so now you gotta grind like the rest of us.

I dont know maybe have a “legacy gold card” in BP and 1 or two of these cards can exchange for a legacy squad

200 headshots with one specific gun is annoying enough because you’d have to kit out all your squads to get it in a reasonable manner. Granted if it wasn’t with a specific gun (as OP suggested) something like 1k or 10k sounds like an abhorrent grind but achievable…

I was there to grind those squads, but not everyone has time. Nothing has to be on a silver platter but not everyone has a bunch of hours to dump into this game.
The evil part was partly a joke, but the part I do mean is that goals need to be achievable and rewarding. 100 vehicles killed with AT mines for only 1k silver is ridiculous.

im going to be honest they should just add all event squads to the game store for gold

it makes the events still worth it because you get it for free, new players still can obtain them after

only solution i see darkflow willing to do because it means they benefit from it

Why they don’t do it is puzzling.
We can buy an event squad with our money during an event, but it is never permanently placed in the store.

Yes, hence why I said there should be a link between the weapon and the squad, to make you actually use the weapons that just get researched and forgotten.

If you only have 1 of the particular weapon, it will take a while to get the 200 headshots, if you want to get those 200 asap, you need to buy more of that weapon and even upgrade them so there is an investment.

The difficulty will spike depending on BR, a BR1 legacy squad will have easier challenges compared to BR5 related legacy squads.

It is a mix between fun and cost, rather than just buying it you feel like you earned it, because in campaigns you had to grind to the particular campaign level, would not be fair on the ones that had to, to just click and buy, plus, where is the fun? Just my 2 cents

better way
Put the max-level out-of-print silver coin weapons into the season
Place a weapon each season
Free players can get up to 4
Season pass players can get up to 9

The event team is used as an exclusive reward for purchasing the Super Season Pass.
($5 to $10)

Players must grow cotton like crazy to get weapons
Officials get a lot of free black people and white people who pay to experience black life
Everyone is happy(?)

It’s been already hinted that legacy/event stuff will be obtainable from lootboxes. Whether they will be purchasable with gold or silver is unknown.

From what I understand. We should be able to get them (lootboxes) as final reward from events.

Well, James/Keo (i don’t remember which one exactly) said back then it is going to be way harder to get them than for the first time.
Purchasing them for a ingame/premium currency really wouldn’t be hard, just pricy.

I guess they still want to keep some kind of uniqueness/exclusivity for those squad. But I really don’t loke the fact it supposed to be rng based from lootboxes.

I’d prefer it if during some important occasion. For example, the anniversary of the game (once a year), there would be an event in which the player would have the opportunity to get a ticket. Well, for that ticket, he could choose one squad from previous events.

From the sound of it they want to do something similar to WT where, some events, give you crates with a selection of Premium vehicles, mostly of low BR and you get randomly given one. In one event I got about 4 premiums that way, 2 tanks and 2 planes
