Recently I was playing 007 Goldeneye, when I realised that the death animations of this 27 year old game have some benefits to enlisted’s animations.
In this video the rifle that the soilder was holding can clearly be seen dropping out of his hand and he falls back (he is clearly stood still) as the force of the bullet pushes him back.
Meanwhile in Enlisted:
In this video however the soilder (who also wasnt in motion) crumples like a tissue. The ragdolls in Enlisted don’t have much weight. Also he doesn’t visibly let go of his gun, it just appears on the ground. The force of the bullet should have transferred and knocked him slightly back.
I suggest:
•enlisted tweaks ragdolls to fall in the direction of the bullet if soilders are stood still
•guns should visually be dropped (if shot) or even thrown out the hands of dead enemies (if they die to a explosion)
•if an enemy dies and falls upon a door it should be pushed open not clipped through
•enemy should fall upon their back if shot dead whilst crouching as they have less balance. (Unless the die upon a incline then they drop in the direction of the incline)
clearing up misconceptions
I do have to point out the deaths in 007 are animations and the deaths in Enlisted are ragdolls, so off course one looks more “realistic”.
I also have to admit that I’ve cherry picked both these examples and enlisted does have some decent ragdolls and 007 has lots of comical death animations.
