Leaderboard Suggestions for Halloween Event

Instead of a leaderboard for “speed runners” who ruin the event for their teammates and prevent them from leveling up their Battle Pass, why not create leader boards for the following categories—which encourages teamwork (which is needed to successfully complete a run).

Medic:

Leaderboard for medics who heal the most people, and a second leaderboard for those medics whose med boxes get used the most.

Engineer:

Leaderboard for Engineers whose ammo boxes get used the most.

Assaulter:

Leaderboard for whomever gets the most kills.

Antitank Character:

Leaderboard for whomever gets the most kills with the antitank weapon, and a second leaderboard for those who get the most kills with the sword/katana .

For all characters:

Leaderboard for whomever destroys the most demon gates.

Leaderboard for whomever destroys the most bosses (not the last person who shoots them for the kill, but whomever accumulates the most damage points per boss).

Leaderboard for whomever revives the most teammates.

Leaderboard for whomever collects the most tokens throughout the event.

Leaderboard for whomever gets downed by the demons the least.

I think these leaderboards would both encourage teamwork, and also be representative of the actions you need to perform within the event to be a successful team. When people are speed running, they leave fallen teammates on the field without helping them, they leave tokens on the field because it takes extra time to collect them, they start rounds too quickly before their teammates are ready, etc.—which rarely promotes teamwork.

I don’t expect the devs to add these leaderboards for this event; however, please keep them in mind for future events. It takes more than just quickly running through an event game to be successful as a team.

UPDATE: Also, a lot of people are complaining about their random teammates during the event. Many randoms go AFK, quit, just play poorly, or are not team oriented. Perhaps the solution is to create a “solo” mode next time so we can choose to play alone, or play as a team (like we have now). Give us an option to correct this problem.

Good post. Right thoughts and suggestions. I am always surprised how such threads do not attract any attention, few uplikes, zero comments. Because for most people, the additional “work” that is teamwork is simply unacceptable. You need to be on the top as soon as possible to claim your bragging rights.

Meanwhile, in my personal opinion (just my personal opinion), developers, due to the desire to create a competitive environment, simply create a toxic environment. We have such updates as player ranks, publicly available replays, open leaderboards. All this leads not to equality, but to artificial elitism.

I have played a lot of Destiny 2 in my time. I have about more than 2k hours in that game. And there, it is precisely such updates that lead to the complete distribution of players. You will be kicked out of the group because you don’t have x hours, x trophies, x points, or you don’t have some rank right next to your name. In the same way, there are so-called “stat seekers” who will try to justify their opinion by looking at your game stats.

Exactly the same is now happening with Hard mode. Before leaderboards were released, Hard mode was super fun. Because in most cases everyone tried to do team work. Hard mode is no longer interesting at all now, because everyone wants to get into artificial LD.

Unnecessary attempts by developers to artificially create competitiveness, when in the meantime they could have done something similar to what the OP suggests.

As you’ve pointed out, the current leaderboards encourage people to act as lone players and leave their teammates behind so they can get their name on a leaderboard. The leaderboards that I’ve suggested would encourage both teamwork AND competition, while still allowing those same people to get their names on multiple leaderboards—and NOT leave their teammates behind (thus meeting the wants and needs of all players involved). It’s a simple solution; however, it’s up to the developers to implement it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

either grindy as hell for overall leaderboard or abusable for single match, probably both for tryhards.
