I unlocked the launch airstrike feature…I tried to use it with the radioman in the squad but it did not give me the option to launch that airstrike only artillery…Is there another action I need to do before it will launch the airstrike?

Please note that only a radioman in the artillery squad can call an airstrike.
A radioman in different squad can only call artillery, not airstrike.
