I’m just getting round to BRIII for Allies and am currently still running the Lanchester fully upgraded. And I wanted to ask how it stacks up to the Thompsons. More specifically the M1A1 and the M1928A1 as those are the ones I’m more interested in as I don’t want to move to BRIV yet. Thanks for any help
Lanchester 50 2x and 2x M1928A1 Thompsons for two Assaulter squads that i’m using. I wish M21/28 would get downtiered to BR3.
The Lanchester still holds up pretty good for BR III (hence why it’s a Tier III gun, not a Tier II gun). I personally hated the M1A1 Thompson due to it’s recoil, however, the M1928A1 is where it’s at. The only issue somewhat is fighting at range, as the lower velocity of .45ACP is quite noticeable.
But it’s still a capable gun. It all comes down to preference: higher velocity, lower damage or higher damage lower velocity bullet.
I like both the Lanchester and Thompson, but I prefer the Thompson, However, I use four Machine Gun squads at level three, so in reality, I prefer the BAR 1918A2 over the Lanchester and Thompson.
I prefer to use 2 assault squads and an engineer squad for BR III, as SMGs are where the Allies biggest advantage is (not so much with Japan, they mirror the US in most BRs), especially with Germany. Germany is the only real nation where I run multiple MG squads instead of assault squads.
I run 2 American assaulter squads with a total of 8 .30 carbine Thompsons. 5 on one and the other 3 on the other squad. And then a British squad with 4 Lanchester 50’s all for my br3 lineup.
I run pretty much run all assaulter squads in level’s one and two, with three premium Thompson squads in level two, plus a Hyde squad and UD M42 squad. For me, the BAR A2 is somewhere between an MG and the T-20. But I only have maybe four to six SMG’s in level three, and that is if I use my APC. Level five I use my three nine man rifle squads armed with T-20’s, plus a mortar squad armed with T-20’s and two flame thrower squads all armed with? You guessed it, T-20’s. My APC I used T-20’s and a couple BAR;s. Also all my specialty squads like engineer and radio are all level five armed with T=20’s so I switch them in and out.
I kind of find it a shame that select fires can be equipped to everyone. It sort of negates the need of an assaulter or MG class. They should be available to a separate class named an “automatic rifleman”, and similar to like an MG or Assaulter class, where a max of 3 - 4 can be in a squad.
I might make a post on that actually (hate to see the comments).
I like to play fast, which is why all my soldiers on every squad are track athletes, and one reason I have two M2 Stingers but rarely use them because they, along with the Browning 1919A6 slow my soldier down. So, I even equip my level five MG’s with BAR A2’s. I wish DF would make a level four or level five BAR with a 40 round magazine. I do miss using the Browning 1919A6 though, and my guess is that all of my 36 kills in the kill 50 soldiers without dying came by the Browning.
They should make a cut down Stinger with only 100 rounds in BR V, so that it can compete against the MG 81 and MG 15 (time for me to make another suggestion).
I think Lanchester is easier to use but Thompsons are the over better SMGs. Purely a question of preference.
US BRIII smgs are a bit awkward
TT thompsons can’t beat Type100/44, ZK383, Bretta M38(40)
Only event Lanchester 50/.30 thompson is playable
If you want good gun in TT just play the bars
