Lanchester better than Thompson?

A fully upgraded Lanchester is so amazing that it should be illegal, it only costs 1 silver order to buy and just a measly 18 bronze orders to upgrade it to the maximum, its got a laser hipfire aswell.

The Thompson (M1A1) is much more expensive to upgrade and buy (which I cant afford), also its iron sights are horrendous and that muzzle velocity just kills it, the hipfire on it is also very disappointing. I was very sad to find it worse than the Lanchester since I wanted to relive some memories of using the Thompson in CoD 2.

So I want to know if the M1 Thompson is any better than the M1A1 or is it generally the same.
I know the M1928 will be good since it has actually usable iron sights (and a 100 round drum mag variant in the future )

What fully upgraded Lanchesters do to a MF:

(I only played with infantry squads; Lanchester, Vickers-Berthier, Charlton auto rifle and the Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.I for the rest of the troops. This was also a very tough battle, we almost lost on the last point of defense.)

I learned in Normandy the Lanchester was better but completely agree with your discovery and not limited to Tunisia

yea the lanchester seems to be a lot better in my opinion also the Thompson shouldn’t have such high recoil as I’m pretty sure it used to have much lower recoil values at some point.

Thompson is still good though its just lanchester is a lot more easy to manage in terms of recoil, has better iron sights and is cheaper to upgrade.

I love the Lanchester. Its the most accurate SMG and as you said for the price it cannot be beat. Max leveled its amazing

The only thompson I really enjoy is the 1921 because of the sights like you said

I love the Thompson and make much more kills with it than with the Lanchester. However the cheap british ripoff Mp28 still is nice. I like all three guns ingame while I do love the Thompson the most.

Allied bias :upside_down_face:

Iirc Lanchester is slighty faster.

I am a hipfire main, I hipfire SMG’s and LMG’s all the time, the Thompsons hipfire accuracy is just horrendous and the bullets fall like rocks, there is a reason why the 9mm is still in military use for SMG’s but not the 45. ACP.

Because they hipfire that much?

Pretty sure no one in the military is hipfiring.

Within the game hipfiring with the lancester is more fun thats true. However rocking the Thompson down the iron sights makes enemies fall like bad apples

No, because of the ballistics of the cartridge.

That might be the case. The max sweet spot of all handgun ammo types is around 50 yards if I remember right. After that the difference between .45 and 9mm is quite mentionable.

However imho the bigger calibers in smg’s are not used that much anymore because of the recoil / handling aspects of the weapons. The trajectory curve sure adds to the deficits of bigger smg cartridges but smgs are rarely used in distances over 100m imho at least at the time of ww2.

Nowadays this might have changed.

I sincerely hope this never gets added to any campaign. First of all, it should slow the soldier down, like the machine gun (Thompson with the C drum weighs about 9kg, the same as the BAR), but also, they were never used in combat.

Thompson M1928A1-min

Too late for that now, it will be heavy but that will make it have a lot less recoil.

I think the biggest cause is the rear sight visibility.
However, the only way to improve this is to go back in time and talk to the Americans of that time.
So, what should we do?

Go back in time and tell them not to be stupid by putting aperture sights on close range weapons like the Carbines and Thompsons.

I know that it is in files, but I still hope it won’t make it into the game - using it in combat is kinda like using the MG 42 with a loose 250 round belt.

Wait for the M1921 Thompson, which has close to 1000 rpm, now give it a drum and the ppsh and stg are gonna look like bb guns

The lanchester is basically just a faster mp28. i picked up one of them in tunisia im surprised how fast the gun fires, but it handles the same as the mp28. they’re nothing special except for the iron sight which i do like

True it is the british copy of the german Mp28 and was used for some time before they switched to the Sten guns which itself still is based on the Mp28 II afaik but was simplified to be ready for mass production.

Mag size. if the MP 28 had a 32 round mag, then it would be a good gun. A 20 round mag is just too small.
