I think the reason why players are often selfish is because they wish to play casually
Every f2p game is divided into two groups, majorily are casual gamers who don’t stick around for a long time and the minority are decent players who have a decent idea of how the game works
The lack of teamplay is derived from the playerbase, you already have a huge incentive to winning (a 1.5 exp multiplier) , but of all my matches, I really do notice some players just dont like to cooperate and would rather snipe 500m away from objectives or do something that doesn’t benefit the team
Should we punish players or have a consequence system?
That’s ideal, but only do it for the players that causes the team to lose, if you were to make everyone face a punishment despite performing good, the amount of desertion would skyrocket and more curbstomps would happen.
It’s deliberately designed because of the existence of people who aren’t good at the game.
Just like the issue of inconsistent forum names and game names, it’s a trick that some people have been using for a long time.
Some people have even started logging into the forums with one account and the game with another. After all, they can log into the forums without logging into the game.
I’m referring to a small fraction of these existences, and if you’ve seen their replay files, you’ll see what I’m talking about.
It’s like how reports of malicious tk teammates, deliberate use of buildings and scenery items to block AI soldiers, etc. won’t be handled either (they only can be redirected and passed upwards).
It’s also like not providing spawning pool construction and usage stats in personal stats, not providing the number of times a tank was tagged and destroyed by a teammate, not providing the stats of joining a fight midway and the number of wins, and not providing the number of times you were warned about a negative fight. etc.
After you have won through your individual efforts. Only the k20enmyD15team team members, however, are chanting EASY GAME !!!!
I think Americans probably did the same thing when confronted with returning GIs during the World Wars, hence the film First Blood.
A significant number of people, just deliberately try hard to lose for the fun of it. They’re not playing the game, they’re playing the normal players who are unfortunate enough to be their teammates.
A lot of times, good players need extra tags, e.g.: people sitting on the server.
Due to latency fixes being cancelled or invalidated. Sitting on the server gives you a huge advantage. Especially if you’re a senior player on an entire team.
The same arguments could be made about Battlefield’s teamplay but people play as a team in that game because it’s INCENTIVIZED with points
