I would really like it if we could just get rid of the up tier/down tier of BRs in matchmaking. So BR1-BR5 are only going to fight in their respective rank. That way there would be some level of balance, even if veterans want to play lower BR.
I guess the only problem would be BR4 Japan since that branch on the research tree is lacking variety. I would love to see some actual Japanese gear not just copy and paste gear from another country. Even after BR 2, Japan needs more stuff but I’ll leave it at that.
I can see where there could be debate with F2P vs. Paying/Veteran players, but I don’t have a problem with that at the moment. My issue is the lack of fun I’m having due to BR imbalances from gear.
I’m not talking about winning either. Being able to have a steady fire fight for a point or setting up defenses to hold off the enemy. Being able to maybe set up AA guns or set up a mortar point to help out the team. I feel that can’t happen as often as I would like because of the gear imbalances from being up tiered.
Anyone have some other suggestions towards improving this idea? I feel like a lot of what I read from others is just to complicated to implement on an established game already, however good the idea may be.
I play all nations so i get a feel for all the issues equally aside from not playing higher than BR 3 currently even though I have a few things left on each research tree left for BR5 to unlock except Japan.
But I find that the fire rate on the sub machine guns from Soviets really just stomps on Germanys MP-38/40 counter part, your only other option would be the Beretta M1918, but it doesn’t feel as good unless you burst fire it. And the PPsh-41 Box is on a different level altogether.
I don’t have many problems with the Soviets body armor, and the APCBC ammo is where I feel the soviets have an edge with mechanized firepower. But I have to step into BR 4/5 to see the other issues the Soviet and other nations have.
That way, semi autos won’t have to compete with select fires, and BR I won’t have to put up with MGs and tanks that their “AT” can’t handle (plus it separates all the new players from the more experienced).
You underestimate BR II weaponry. When I first unlocked BR III weaponry and equipped it, I still had bolt actions and BR II MGs. Guess what? I came out on top place, because most people weren’t expecting a one shot kill. And the MGs, especially the MG 13, aren’t terribly different to BR III MGs (with the exception of the MG 34 which is a whole new concept).
Sure, the AT is lacking, but I was able to kill a T-34 STZ from the side with a GrB-39. Besides, it’d be hard locked so BR IV could never join a BR II match and vice-versa.
To be honest, I never found much difference in practice using the two weapons, and I found I preferred the MG 13 instead of the BAR. I actually found the BAR to be unreliable in gaining kills unlike the MG 13.
make you happy? I figured there is not much difference between BR III to IV so they can queue in the same match, whereas the jump between I - II and II - III is a lot larger. Not to mention the jump from IV - V…
Maybe with the dedicated BRs add an option menu for gear to omit, so you can have a weapons free for all or maybe even a BR5 rifle only match with specific vehicles allowed. I’m trying to envision balance for those who want it and for those who don’t. So everyone can be happy.
It’s just emotional attachment. His brain is buffing German weapon. Also known as placebo effect. That’s how i can also explain devs thinking when they balance the game they see Germans as the most overpowered thing possible across all BRs while in reality they are very weak.
I play with god knows how much ping in Australia, so many of the “advantages” of automatic weapons actually sort of disappear so most end up feeling more or less the same.
