Why am I asking for this? USSR vs Japan seems inevitable. Currently, the Type Hei Automatic cannot 1-tap against Vitality + Body Armor (same issue the FG 42s previously had).
As far as I’m aware, this is the best potential option for a Japanese select-fire chambered in a 7.7mm or 7.92mm cartridge (other option possibly being the Type 99 Paratrooper variant). With 15.3 damage, 25 round magazine and 550 (610) rounds per minute, it gives Japan something closer in line with the AVT-40 20, T20 etc. If there was a 20 round magazine I would prefer it to have that, but the extra ammunition is somewhat paid for by more weight (9kg) and a slower rate of fire compared to other select-fire rifles.

To replace it in the current position it is in, I would offer the Type 1 Model II. For historical context, there were a couple of prototype machine guns of very similar performance that were tested in 1940 and 1941, of which one of them eventually evolved into the Type 3 Heavy MG. The two machine guns in the images above are supposedly the Type 1 Model II (top) and Type 1 Model III (bottom), but I’m interested in whichever works best for Gaijin to add (perhaps whichever definitely became the Type 3).
It’s chambered in 7.7mm, feeds from a 30 round Hotchkiss-style belt (like the Hotchkiss M1922), and fires at 550-600 rounds per minute unupgraded. This way, the KE7 is replaced with something that has very comparable stats, and also does not fire from a top-loaded magazine.
What do you guys think? Is there a better option for a 15.3 damage Japanese select-fire rifle? Should there be a different weapon to replace the KE7? Let me know your thoughts!

Total nonsense.
KE7 is double the weight of an average SF rifle in Enlisted.

Could give them a captured AVS-36 instead?

But then again, it’s copypasta and likely not as competitive. So the problem isn’t solved.

At least it’s not the ofrenrohr - oh wait.

using body armor to move guns around the tech tree is wild just aim for the headshot or set up ambushes its not that hard lol

I find spraying and praying the best option for dealing with body armour - after all, there’s only so many bullets armour can take.

exactly if you have the jump on them the 1 bullet difference wont really matter. the only time it matters is when you get outplayed by a flank and most of the time a bolt action rifle 1 shots them

Type Hei Automatic has one of the highest damage drop-offs from rifle caliber weapons
You could just buff its damage and it would be fine
Or better yet, remove the cosmetic damage reduction because its just ass and fucks up weapon balance too much

use your eyes and read the post tittle lol
skill issue. just aim for headshots or better yet actually shoot the enemy before they start shooting you
Geez, I wonder why everyone preferred to shoot centre of mass in this game
Almost as if it was faster to aim at an object that’s 7x the size or as if there was a stat in the game that caused RnG bullet spread at distances that made it not only much harder to hit but also completely beyond your control whether you do
By the same logic I should request AVT and AVS damage to be dropped to less than 13.5, because ‘why do they need vitality 1 shot threshold if they can just hit headshots and kill anyway?’
The forum dwellers are really astonishing. There are a few guys I see on almost every thread and you’d think that by sheer amount of insight they consume they’d develop an actual understanding of the game but nope: they confidently write things you couldn’t even bribe me to write
There is no need of that there is a Chinese variant that is a rifle variant of KE7 with reduced weight and 20 round mag :

被遺忘的抗戰利器——瑞士啟拉利輕機槍(SIG Neuhausen KE7)
They even removed the bipod on this version and configurated it as assault rifle reducing the weight but it was still on the heavy side a bit bellow 7 kg.
But I would prefer the 50 round version as LMG on BR IV but with Japanese configuration with a muzzle brake.

Is this information on the weapon accurate?

7.7kg is less than the Gorov

Well this depends on the variant but they are conflicting since there was multiple factories producing them there is one with the holes on the barrel and without Bipod 6.9 kg or something like that but its hard to make sure since China made a lot of home made and each factory had its unique design. So its possible to be correct. But I’m not an expert on Chinese versions of SIG KE7.

Totally fair. It might be worth compiling a list and specs of all of the different domestically produced Chinese KE7s?
It also makes me curious if there’s any modified by Japan in some way that could fit the select-fire role better? But that’s obviously a stretch.
Well the problem with Japan is that there is not enough researches now there will be dragons of fire book that will cover a lot of Japanese guns including many misconceptions about Japanese SMG for Type 1,Type 2 and Type 100 early and many more weapons but I would doubt will cover SIG KE7 but who knows how far the author will go we gonna wait for a full book:
Book Review: Japanese Submachine Guns by William Easterly
skill issue but continue please. I dont know about you but if I see someone wearing armor I aim at their head or easily shoot them first and now youre bring up more stuff from USSR that doesnt face any type of armor and by that logic they should buff all smgs to one shot it as well since its so hard to shoot anywhere else. Its ok if you play germany and can’t aim you can always switch to the other 3 nations that doesn’t face it or better yet actually try aiming and not play like a bot that has to aim center mass
I find your attitude annoying and unconstructive. “Just aim for the head” is such a BS answer because letting one faction have a cosmetic that reduces bodyshot damage is nonsensical and unbalanced. Vitality paired with the body armor makes SMGs significantly weaker beyond spitting distance and it’s not killing one guy that’s the problem, it’s killing the entire squad or a large portion before they can retaliate

The Type Hei is already perfection or almost… Do Japan need another SF rifle? Maybe a sidegrade for flavour…
But the issue remains, the cheap body armours and the weak people abusing them. With this unbalanced bonus removed, a lot of issues would be fixed…
