It can even not upgraded kill everybody with no need to put it down first.
It is not more effective than any other weapon in this campaign as soon as lvl1.
The gameplay now revolve on who will one shot the other first. Who will use the bad lighting of the buildings at his advantage to make a kill streak without even having the chance for the enemy to fight back.

I ask the question: Is the kar98 meta a dark omen?
Are we facing good god that will bring a new balance in the game or will itmake us flee to warmer campaign?
Bolt actions are finally where they should be in Stalingrad. They need to immediately make these changes active across all campaigns. Justin Timberlake didn’t do shit, Stalingrad brought sexy bolt action back.
But I’m the salty bastard who’s okay with anything that makes people keep their goddamn heads down while running around in the streets…more bombers, more artillery, more concussion, more screen shake. Don’t stop until there are at least 4 threads on the forum every day where people complain that their screen shakes so bad that they keep vomiting on their keyboard.
Some of the above may have been sarcastic…but certainly not all of it…
bolt-action gameplay is good and this game does it very well, in fact, I don’t think semiautos should even be in the game save for a few elite troops, as most of WW2 was fought using bolt-action rifles.
Next on the list: WW1 or Russian Civil war campaign.
Did the damage get buffed? sure, but is it really a buff when they already 1 tap. Im glad you have a new appreciation for rifles. But they were always awesome.
Puting the target on the ground is not the same as killing in one shot your enemy.
I’m just afraid it will make the game already more hardcore and fast than it’s already is. You already cycle all your squad member and fast respawn so much.
One of the problem of Stalingrad is that the maps with sniper spot everywhere, coupled with the OS bolt action rifle and the fact that a squad got between 5 to 9 of those weapons, make the gameplay go insane.
Don’t get me wrong. I haven’t thought into the implications of making them stronger, Just simply stating they were already great and the most efficient killing weapon in the game.
I prefer the 1 tap down for body shots, not 1 tap out. Headshots were always 1 shot out. makes it more interesting having a reason to make the headshot.
the only possible reason I could think of for this change was to make certain perks required to get the prepatch results.
-survives the 1 shot and out with extra HP perk
-High chance of surviving a lethal shot perk.
But realistically I don’t think it will change much. People Mostly go automatic because its forgiving with accuracy. And since players aim wont improve with the patch, they will still gravitate to the forgiving automatic.
If given a chance to choose kar98k OR any other semiauto or fullauto wonder weapon like mkb, ppsh, fg42. Majority of players would still probably choose the latter.
The stats for all BA and SMGs are the same like in other campaigns. I know that they are bugged sometimes, but it seems wierd anyway to announce such change and then not show it in any way.
I wonder if bugged stats are the case or people just recieved powerful placebo effect and enjoy standard BA thinking that they have been buffed.
But even if they didn’t (nad hopefully will do it later), BA gunplay with all new sounds nad visuals is really sweet. I’m glad that Stalingrad maps are so big, so my beloved rifles can shine there.
It’s just incoherent with the all damage model of the game “The caliber give the damage”.
A bolt action rifle is supposed to do around 13. About the same than semi auto, but with an little extra.
