I think it could be interesting to show how seasonal events look like in War Thunder.
There’s two types of main events formats there:
One is kinda similar to the events we have in Enlisted (play, score X points within 2 days, unlock steps). Except it’s (arguably?) more grindy/tedious, thus encouraging even more meta abuse, cheesy tactics, and in general unfun repetitive gameplay (you do what scores the most points over and over again to save time).
The other one… oh boy.
My words cannot explain.
Just have a look yourselves:
(WARNING - brain melting alert)
I’m just going to provide a few additional pieces of info that the announcement doesn’t mention:
Summary
The overall amount of grind required is more than you expect. SO much more. You’re expecting it to be hellish? Well, it’s more than that. Kinda like “puke at the mere sight of the icon of the game on your desktop afterwards” levels of burnout.
I can guarantee you for a fact, that so far in every single iteration of this event, they have changed the assembly procedure. And every single time, it became more complex than the previous one. And every single time, they made sure to make it less convenient to farm components to sell them on the market. They want you to use the market, but they don’t want you to earn a modest amount of GJN by just playing normally and selling surpluses. They want you to either put in full commitment, or get nothing at all.
Why am I sharing this?
I think it’s useful to see things in perspective. To better understand how events in Enlisted actually are when seen in the big picture, and how they could possibly become.
As a sucker for punishment that grinds the Warthunder events and Enlisted events.
Enlisted is a walk in the park. Hope it stays that way. Dont ya’ll cry about it too loudly…it can be much, MUCH worse.
Cant play warthunder for a month after an event. (burnout). Only benefit is can sell/trade event vehicles on the market to get ones you missed. (but the prices on some of those are insane…IS-7 for example is literally over $1.5k)
that’s why I deleted it. It was a terrible experience. Never again.
If this game becomes the same. It will become so, there is no doubt. I’ll have to delete it.
Well. Except you are travelling or have other stuff to do or are too busy during the week.
I remember when there was no daily cap and people could grind as much and as long as they wanted which was loved by everyone… and that was literally the last event iirc.
So why not keeping that?
Those garbage soulcrushing events were one of the big reason why i stopped playing WT, since they don’t care about their players so why would i care? Plus economy was garbage and still are, they expect you to pay for premium time (that is $40 even during sale and has worse value than Enlisted’s premium) or keep losing money, only masochists are still playing that game. Enlisted is much better in this regard events are reasonable, you won’t lose currency while playing badly (only potential xp). They balance those events with marketplace in mind so honestly they should delay Enlisted marketplace for the rest of this century otherwise we will end up with those dreadful grindy events just because some players grinded their lives away and then sold few vehicles for $40.
god dam havent play warthunder in like 5 year didnt know their event are basically gacha game sheesh and people say enlisted event are bad imo im fine with any method either it a 2 day reward(which mean i can actually just login and log out) or 5k point everyday as long as it isnt 50k per day im fine with it but THAT is just my opinion. REMEMBER opinion can change and are subjective you can hate what i like just remember that it an opinion
Events yes, and certain tiers yes. But it is extremely fun after the learning curve…which is sooo long for many its not worth it (and fair enough too). Since I have been playing since it was in its infancy I know all the tanks, maps and weakspots so its just like any other shooter to me. (point, click, dead)
thats the other thing, knowing the sweet spots that also comes with time, or just comparing the tech trees. If you go in with the deck built weakly you are going to have a bad time. I think most people do this. Even some of my mates who have played for years insist on going in with a half baked deck.
there are so many. My favourites are
4.7, 10.0 Russia
1.7, 5.3 and 5.7 germany
5.3. 7.3 France
6.3, 6.7 America
4.7 british
I have the stupid pay to win line up there…you know the one Im talking about…turms, 2s38, su-25 lol…used to be 9.7 sweet spot. I barely play it though…felt a little bit dirty at 9.7
