For the German players who are learning/mastering the JU-188, here are some tips to help you become a better pilot:
First and foremost, how do you get your A.I. gunners to engage enemy aircraft that are directly ahead of you?
It’s all about positioning yourself correctly, and maintaining this position while you pilot the aircraft and watch your A.I. do it’s work.
But what’s the correct position to get them to fire their weapons?
-Imagine the sketch above as the cockpit of the JU-188 in an idle position (meaning your crosshair is dead-center with the screen).
-Now imagine this central point as your dead-zone, where your A.I. soldiers will not engage enemy aircraft if your crosshair/central point of the vehicle is pointed directly at the aircraft.
-From this central point, the A.I. gunners will NOT shoot at anything within the dead-zone that I have drawn/written into the sketch.
-Which means in order to get your JU-188 gunners to engage the aircraft that you’re pursuing… you need to position yourself slightly below the enemy, and place the enemy aircraft in the top-right quadrant of your screen.
-The left quadrant works too, but the angle is different than the rightward gunner.
-So long as you maintain a relatively close/medium distance to the enemy aircraft, and keep the enemy inside the top-right quadrant of the central point of the JU-188’s cockpit, the forward gunner should engage enemy aircraft.
-Use the free-look mechanic to keep track of enemy aircraft, and also to watch the tracers from your A.I. gunners as they are shooting.
-Fly as smooth as you can, in order to increase A.I. gunner accuracy.

Bombing Tips:
-As you’re approaching the battlefield, use the free-look mechanic and the zoom-feature, in order to get a better view of what’s ahead.
-The positions of your teammates will appear as they close within 1,000 meters of your position.
-Once you can see where all of your teammates are located, quickly scan the battlefield for tracer-rounds being exchanged. You’ll see bullets zipping back-and-forth, where you can identify the highest concentration of enemy soldiers.
-Once you pick your target, it’s often a good idea to only drop 2 or 4 bombs, while retaining the others from a second pass. I rarely drop all 6 bombs on the first pass.
-Take advantage of the knowledge that AA guns cannot engage you at low altitudes… so after you drop the bombs, it doesn’t hurt to fly close to the ground for 1,000 meters before you gain elevation again.
-Use your headphones and ALWAYS LISTEN for approaching aircraft. Use the free-look mechanic as you’re flying back to re-arm, and scan the sky for enemy aircraft.
-Only use your Combat flaps, when you’re being chased by the enemy, or when you’re pursuing an enemy, or when you’re making a steep dive. The rest of the time, keep your flaps at UP, so you can maintain the fastest flight speed. “Combat” mode, will reduce your overall airspeed.
