Gunners wont target and destroy enemy airstrike bombers. I was following a squadron of bombers in hopes of shooting them down in my JU 188 and my gunners were not firing at them at all. First time I’ve not cared enough about winning in a while to actually try it due to the overwhelming stupidity of my bot team. Has this always been a thing?

Some of them shoot if You fly below the airstrike, it’s kinda weird now

Fly a little bit under them, with your focused target at your 1 'oclock and 2 'oclock position or the 10 'oclock and 11 'oclock position. Frontward shooting gunners will not engage if you have the nose of your aircraft pointed directly at the enemy. From your forward viewing position, you have to fly with them to the right or left of the very center of the screen.

Not sure.
But if you want to figure it out, I recommend flying the aircraft in the test range with only a single gunner occupying the aircraft.
I bet if you deploy in the test-range, and then use the free-look mechanic with your pilot, you can identify which soldier is allocated towards which seat/slot.
Obviously this will require exiting the range, and rotating the gunner through each empty seat (redeploying each time, and using the freelook feature).
