Joint Operations and Planetside 2

These 2 games were hallmark of massive combat battlefields. Joint Ops did large scale battles, up to 200 players, I think. And it got really epic. Dev should not be afraid to increase player limits - epic battles are fun just because they’re huge.

Planetside 2 was epic in a different way - certain points, like The Crown would turn into central focus of 100’s of attackers, but other points would be totally empty.

Large numbers of players per map is a good thing, it worked in almost any game I can think of. I don’t understand why BF, and other games limit to such small battles.

Already suggested a PS2/Enduring Confrontation type mode here: Planetside 2-esque Game Mode
Feel free to make your own post about it though since mine didn’t really take off :+1:

Yeah, I read it, but wanted to add JO, because it was really good game. And anyway, throwing ideas.

Personally I don’t want battles with 40,000,000,000 players but I do want larger maps. Naturally those would have more players in them, but too many players would make things chaotic.

i covered a similar suggestion a while ago,

unfortunally, it cannot be done for a few reasons.

it requires huge work. just like it did for planetside 2 becoming what it is now days. i really suggest you to give a look at their dev blog from the beginning. it’s an interestring adventure on their regards. and see what they achieved today, it’s just amazing. but back to us, enlisted cannot, and will not follow it’s same path for simple reasons;

numbers, and tech and money.

numbers, because as far we know, darflow it’s made around 10<30 members. which it’s a huge work for those people. and laslty, they complealty lack of tech and servers and software in order to achieve something similar to planet side.

like, all we know, is that enlisted started to work on enlisted in 2014/6. and the first alpha that we got, was “released” to be shown and played around 1 year ago.

so, for them, in order to turn this game into planetside, it would require huge work, scrap the current project and recreate it from 0. which it would have required alot of money, and work.

now, thankfully, in your thread, this is not the case, as you simply want to increase numbers of match.

weather this could be a good or bad idea, i think this might become a possible feature for the future. now, we are kinda stuck in the situation where we have to fix a couple of isses that are present from the alpha, and let’s hope for the introduction of quality of life still suggested from the alpha…

i suppose they have other prioerities at the moment.

cheers.

I think you are mistaking 100 soldiers for 100 players
We already have up to 210 soldiers in any battle, if you get a 15v15 with everyone using 7-man squads. Of course, you only get 15v15 if there is a 4-man party on both sides.

Yes, back to “us”! tee hee

Darkflow don’t have any money? I just gave them like $120, you did too, right lol? jk

Anyway, I agree, studio is a little small, but I was just saying that larger battlefields are fun, and devs should try to figure that into Enlisted. Like Lone Wolf mode is already very different, and it works. It could be another mode like that.

I remember having extra fun on large battlefield games, and nobody is doing it right now.
