It's time to rework the radio operators

Hello all, for many it is no secret that the squads of radio operators are quite useless, especially on 5br. There are many reasons for this, probably the main one is the low number of only 5 people. In this post I’ll try to describe how I see the rework of radio operators.

Rework the radio operators

  1. Increase the number of squad up to 6 people (maybe even 7)

  2. Increase the number of radio operators in their squad to 3-4 people, not as now 2 people

  3. Separate finally air strike and artillery, so that there was no such thing that one player in the team called an air strike, and you can not throw much more useful artillery. They should be called in parallely.

  4. Increase the density of the smoke screen, so that it is actually a smoke screen, not like in the game now.

  5. Add the ability for radio operators to take a large and small ammo pouch. Because having 2 weapons with little ammo is not to everyone’s liking. And also look at where the radio station located.

And now look where the large ammo pouch is located

Question, how do they interfere with each other? Spoiler: they don’t.

“Radio Communication Point”

Give the engineer in the squad of radio operators to build a “Radio Communication Point”, with the help of which allies of any class will be able to call for shelling themselves, without the participation of radio operators, for each killed by such a call of the enemy will be credited points, not only to the one who killed by shelling, but also the player who built the “Radio Communication Point”. It will look like this:

Germany

The U.S.

Japan
the U.S. does not have a table, and those radios in the photo are not exactly those that are in the game, but I think you get the gist. A table, and on it radio equipment. KD will be 5 minutes. Also in the tree of updrades (red tree) squad of radio operators will be added a new tree that will upgrade “Point of Radio Communication”.
Not upgraded “Radio Communication Point” will be able to call only standard artillery strike, but with improvements it will be able to call:

  1. Air Raid
  2. Smoke screen
  3. Ammunition box

In general, an upgraded “Radio Communication Point” will be able to call out all the same things as regular radio operators.
And there is something similar to a “Radio Communication Point” on the polygon

Lol, I guess spamming objective with artillery every 2 minutes is useless.

The only rework they need is backpack slot for radioman.

It’s so pointless to have 2 weapon slots for only 1 weapon type - rifles. I would much more appreciate to have big ammo pouches.

That’s the thing, yes spamming with artillery helps to kill enemies, but the main goal is to capture/not let capture a point and here radio operators work badly, they are too few in the squad. Not for nothing, the meta of rifleman with auto rifles became a meta also for the reason that the squad of rifleman has the largest number of people in the squad.

The big ammo bag for radio operators is a good idea though. Thank you.

Yes, i lost one match yesterday because one of our team called bombers, when we desperately needed artillery.

i agree, i hate using two weopne.

7? no, i think 6 is more fair.

I don’t think radio squad needs improvement but those ideas are nice.

Smoke arty should have completely separate cooldown from offensive arty and bombers.

Just remove the bomber call in all together, but increase area and damage slightly to the artillary call in. Also yes on giving radioman ammo pouches they defently need them.

seems you didnt search enough for japan, let me help you

or get rid of their nerfs

Thank you.

It is useless.
Why won’t I hop on an P47/Ju188/Tu2 and nuke that area.

I don’t think players should be able to call in 2 deadly types of radio calls at the same time, though I do think one player should be able to call in rockets/bombers/artillery while another player is able to call in smoke/supply drops.

I like the idea of letting Radio Operators choose pouches over a 2nd gun. (I would prefer this)

I also like the idea of having a buildable “Radio Communication Point”, every squad that can have an Engineer inside it should have a unique item they can build.

IMOP they need to change it so that you only have to call it in once, as usually you have to wait as everyone else on your team is also trying to call it it, thus, my radiomen are usually dead before I can actually call a strike in. You should only have to call it in once, get an acknowledgement and forget about it, instead of trying, and trying, and trying ect to call it in. Can’t the dude on the other end of the radio take a message and acknowledge your call in?

Maybe give the radio squad the ability to call in smoke and air drops while theres a bombing raid or airstrike on the field instead of having to wait for them to finish ( only 1 type of support can be called so someone else would need to call the air strike/ bombing raid ). This would make them more viable to play

Honestly what we need at this point is just seperate cooldowns for smoke/shellings/airstrikes
