So a lot of players that first were connected but then decided to leave? Or were they never connected for real at all?

possible clan or bug. if it was clan, it is possible that one or 2 players lost connection, so they deserted and queued again.

It’s possible, but that would mean that would have to have happened to 3 stacks of 4 players in the same game, so it is unlikely. What is more likely is that those 4 stacks left out of their own free volition.
Is this occurring when there are a lot of players queuing simultaneously and the server decided to replace early connected players who leave with real humans?
yes. if real human left he will be shown in battle as disconnected.
I’ll make an educated guess and say that soviet players left when they realised it won’t be an easy victory.

I think that this has not been the case for six months, but at least there are certainly some left.

That’s because its CONQUEST and I did get a similar situation one time but its Fortified District Conquest where the enemy team just mass quit.

Conquest. Nobody wants to play it. I’d leave too.
i didnt even notice it was conquest… that is auto quit for me…
btw this one was also auto quit… 8 console players, mostly newbies vs 5 (almost) marshals on destruction… have smarter ways to utilize my time…
It’s as if… Conquest is a very boring mode…

When I prefer Berlin Soviet more than Moscow and Stalingrad Soviet because I enjoy the tanks in Berlin the most with the T-34-85 and IS-2.
While German tanks are more interesting.
Need IS 2 44 years with DShK, and ISU 152 with DShK for equivalent to german.
I used to drive Panther in Normandy until I replaced it with the Tiger because of the firepower and the reverse speed I experienced with the T-72 in War Thunder with -4 km/h that made me prefer the Tiger there. Yeah I missed my IS-2 obr 1944 from War Thunder with the better hull layout.
I just find the tank engagements in Berlin more fun especially when fighting against Panthers just like the T-34 movie and the satisfaction of destroying a Tiger and King Tiger with 85mm or even 122mm is unmatched from other campaigns besides Tiger destroying a Jumbo.

Offcourse its not easy victory in CONQUEST when your team get REDUCED TICKETS

conquest is shit cause you can end up just running most of the game (e.g. normandy) and not fighting. and cause decreased fighting time, you get lot less kills and overall it is worst xp per game/time ratio.
Tank battle in Berlin is the fairest at the moment.
Each tank can destroy any tank.
