In ingame shop, you can see they are selling the american thompson with discounted price from 4,000 gold to 2,960 gold.
But, according to EU consumer protection law, it is obligated “when offering a discount, to indicate the lowest price applied to the item at least 30 days before the announcement of the price reduction.”
In other words, it is illegal to publish a fake discount by exaggerating pre-discount price.
but, in our case, this is the first time selling it and therefore there aren’t “the lowest price applied to the item at least 30 days”
I am not a law expert, but im pretty sure this is against consumer protection law.
I keep hearing this but so far it apparently didnt break the law enough for people actually sueing DF/ their publisher or at least ask a real lawyer or consultance.
It might seem that way at first look, but if you read the example it becomes crystal clear that this against scamming people with fake discounts which is not the case here.
Though you could classify MG42 (B) and Thompson AC as a new items, they are in the same category as the RD-44 (B) which was in the shop months earlier thus there is price history so these dont violate the EU directive.
Besides the game is not selling products but services thus the same laws might not be appliable here, but I don’t have enough experience with EU law yet to give a more detailed answer.
