Is this game going to advance forward in time?

Are we going to advance to the Cold War era anytime, or are we going to stay at WW2?
I would love to see this game go towards more modern warfare, but seeing that the merge update was announced quite a while ago and there isn’t even a confirmed release date, I’m losing hope for any more major updates that could take the game forward.

I feel like there are too many WW2 games out on the market now, and even with the all the prototype weapons in the game, it just gets boring after a while.

they said they wanted to focus on ww2 first but that its not off the table

I think FPS-wise there is only HLL really left and maybe BFV.
Most of them just died.

i would rather not have the game have anythink past 1945 and there is still a wealth of maps, engagements, equipment, vehicles, and a few more factions to add from 1936-1945
a more modern setting would not work well with the game either with smaller squads and more automatics
and mostly the game gets boring cuz on the one note game mode

  • invasion and demo are basicaly the same
  • assault is unplayable without a good team for the attackers
  • conquest is much too linear with just three caps

Not really because the defender can actually alter the “capture” process and attackers don’t need to dump bodies until magic circle is blue.
Which is pretty similar to “unplayable” Assault.

attackers can stop the defenders from disarming by spaming nades, fire, porspro, mines or just sling HE from a tank, in effect making it easier

Defenders can do the same and more and otherwise they are bots and plebs.

You shouldn’t be pushing for modern era when there is so much of WW2 cover. And this is one of the few WW2 shooters today. Let’s leave all that modern stuff way way way down the line

And this game is a WW2 game in the first place, you knew what you were getting. If you’re getting bored you might as well just play a modern game

There’s too much missing from this war/era to even think about other conflicts. Nothing else to consider until then. Go play modern shooters if that’s what you want

Yup. Although i hope in 5 years or so they start covering other conflicts, i would prefer ww2 be fully fleshed out first.

Warthunder moved to post ww 2 after 5 years?? And still missing lots of ww 2 content

i think it would be more fun to go back wards, hear me out there are a lot of things that between ww1 and 2 that were removed or changed, also it be boss to drive a MK5 in enlisted or tog

I agree, although War thunder handled it the wrong way. I hope they learned from that but I’m not so sure.

Maybe if it was back in 2006, but honestly now there’s hardly any out there anymore. Now it seems like every other game tries to focus on modern warfare or the future. Enlisted is a nice break from that.

I think if they did go on to something like the Cold War they’d need to make each of the WW2 factions feed into larger “NATO” or “Warsaw Pact” factions.

This is keeping in mind how you’re gonna have the Axis, Allies, Soviets, and Japan as their own factions after the merge. Japan and Allies could go towards NATO, Soviets would be Warsaw Pact, and Axis could go either way. Maybe have China as a 3rd faction or something, IDK.

Even then though, I’m not really sure how they’d implement them, since none of those factions actually directly fought each other, aside from the US and China in the Korean War. Maybe just give everyone a skin, like Vietnamese for Russia/China in the Vietnam war, or Mujahideen for US in the Soviet-Afghan War?

If (stress on IF) the formula works and the game lives on, then it is pretty much guaranteed that the future evolution will be progressively towards modern conflicts, just like WT. The potential appeal to a broader audience is just too big to be ignored.
