Is this game friendly to beginners?

Perhaps this question should have been raised after the campaign merge. It’s hard to imagine how difficult the environment is for new players who join the game now. They have to stay in BR1 for a long time and have nothing but bolt - action rifles. When they use the BR1 tanks, they will be easily destroyed, which must be very frustrating. If they don’t buy the pass, even if they play the game frequently, they can only get one GO weapon in the end. The game experience for newbies is probably very boring. Maybe this is the reason why there are so few new players?
This is really an expensive “free” game.

Compared to how it was in pre-merge. springfields vs FG42s ll Or IS2 1944 VS Pz IV J it’s quite better but… Theres is many aspects that should be fixed and improved and when i said many i said M a n y

Before that, new players could take advantage of the dominant factions to get through the novice period. Many people got through their novice period in the German faction by relying on the situation in Berlin, or in the Soviet faction in Moscow. But now new players have nothing to rely on.

without a shadow of doubt,
it’s better now than in the pre merge.

fighting tigers with m5s was not fun at all.

playing with bots in desert campaigns against full enemy human team was even worse.

so yes.
it is very friendly for beginners considering that the br 1 rifle can pretty much kill anyone.

as it goes for tanks and airplanes, it’s fine to let others deal with it.
you are not supposed to kill everything that you face.

after all, it’s a combine arms type of game.

I have many friends who I invited to play but they left, well there were many reasons:
1- The complexity of the game (which I think is now partly solved with the addition of the guide)
2- The game is p2w (Honestly as a f2p I don’t really agree with this one, but I feel like the game is heading in this direction)
3- FOMO (I agree with this myself, right now I really like to have squads like event apc’s, paratroopers, silencer squads, assault engineers, etc, but the only way is loot boxes with a 1% chance)
4- Low slots (I also agree, for f2p players there are few slots which can be very frustrating, this game has interesting things, like guerrillas, mortars, flamethrowers, etc, but the lack of slots can make you only use basic squads like assaulters, MGs, and engineers, which may be frustrating for many, I think all players need at least 6 slots)
DF should know that player retention is very important, the more players stay and are happy, the more likely they are to become wallet warriors, also f2p players are very important, this game will die without f2p players.

for medics with smg you need 5k xp. that is max 2-3 battles for average player.
for assaulters you need 62k xp and that is ~30 battles for average player if you have no bonus xp on squads(or 10-15 battles if you do).

still remember some of my games on normandy with tiger E camping on hill and 10s of stuarts killed on beach… it was pretty fun for me
then i remember getting owned by tigers when i was grinding normandy and why i learned to play planes.

This game is extremely friendly towards beginners. Once you get invested, it becomes to be frustrating… From time to time.

The progress is probably the best it has ever been. Though it could be simpler.
Balance is ok for the most part. But f2p need to suffer lack of squad slots.
The biggest issue is learning about the game. There is basically no tutorial and even if you are a veteran there may be some mechanics / features you have no idea about.

out of a group of ~7 people that started playing around when the Normandy campaign went public, I am the only one that still has the game installed.

I can’t speak for why they all individually decided to stop playing, but the most common reason I heard was that they just didn’t find the game fun anymore, and the updates for the most part, uninteresting.

Putting half of the Stalingrad campaign behind a paywall and limiting new content like paratroopers, rocket arty, etc. to either premium squads or limited-time FOMO events made the game more unpalatable in their eyes and definitely contributed to them deciding against putting more time into Enlisted.

I would love if more veterans stuck around, but at the same time I understand why they left.

People who find Enlisted complex, should not breed for the sake of mankind.

Is there any important one though?

All bot commands except staying orders are useless because it involves the bots and they barely follow the staying order. They never live long enoug for you to make specific orders anyway.
Digging is useless beyond maybe digging holes for rallies.

Depends I guess.
We have ppl who don’t know that perks exist and ppl who will add bayonet to the weapon for 5% recoil reduction.

Playing Japan vs USA without crossplay on console for example…… (2 jap vs 10 usa players)

I think the first day of this game is Complex, especially if someone hasn’t played a live service game before.

Dunno, there are two unique features I would say differs Enlisted from other games:
Engineer and AI.
AI is stupid and only serves as cannon fodder and extra lives.
Engineer has three key buildings with one being SS+ Tier: Rally, then AT and AA cannon (and AT only if Bomber and TNT/ nuke pack is not good enough or not unlocked yet). Toturial I think already exists for that part anyways. MGs are optional if people stick o Engineer and Gunner squad.
And all that is not really hard to learn beyond figuring out stupid “terrain limitations” because floor is only 99% flat and not 101%.

I grant to some extent the MM rules due to events, BP and premium shop promoting stuff that newbies can’t use without suffering from uptiering.

on the contrary, finally an FPS where they get kills.

One of my mates is the biggest noobs and sucks at FPS (Hes okay with being shit, hes just likes to hang out)

loves enlisted because he actually gets kills lol

I came to this game in BETA with ZERO FPS experience - my computer gaming was all 4X and wargames - none of which were FPS - all company/battalion level tactical or strategic/grand strategic.

I had to use the practice field to figure out how to lie down, run, ADS took at least 3 or 4 visits to remember just basic details and action that you guys all probably take for granted from BF or COD or whatever.

I don’t think it has gotten any simpler, and IMO the plethora of weapons and equipment + poor UI is still not well done.

Then we have to mention another lousy modification made by DF. After the campaign merger, they cancelled the first-tier commando squad, which has resulted in new players taking a much longer time to obtain a commando squad. Also, 30 matches are definitely not a short period of time for novice players. No one will waste too much time on it if they don’t feel comfortable.

I’ve been playing about three years, and for me, I think it is tougher for beginners then it was when I started. I don’t play level one much, but when I do, it seems to be one of the tougher BR levels, as lots of NON Newbies are playing, add to that we have so many more premium squads so my level one is pretty much all smg’s. Of course, when I started I sucked with the rifle, so I chose to play a lot of sniper as opposed to fighting close in.
