Is the Bazooka worth the grind?

the one with the night vision soldier

in theory the bazooka should be kinda meh, since it only had max something like 80mm penetration, meaning it could penetrate Panzer IV and Stug / Panzer III just barely from the front requiring very good lucky hits, also since Panzerschurzen / side skirts basically absorbed these kind of weapons in general, even hits to the sides of german tanks would likely be having no effect.

Piats on the other hand had much better penetration power, but still were considered “less optimal” since their bad accuracy, being “basically” spring loaded , very unpleasant reload mechanism, or in other words, the Piat was a miniature catapult /crossbow hybrid that would “yeet big heat grenades” capable of penetrating basically “every german” tank.

what ever power these guns had, lets not forget the probably most important aspect of these weapon systems, weight:

Piat 15 KG
Bazooka 8 KG
Panzerfaust 6 KG
Panzerschreck 11 KG

By the time you finish speaking out a German armored vehicle, the war is over.

Not relevant to WW2, but I’m reading an account of the Korean war right now and in the first major clash of North Korean and US forces (the summer of 1950), the surplus bazookas that the US is using (the 2.5 inch model, so 60mm) is doing nothing against the T-34s that the North Koreans are fielding.

It may be something to keep in mind for those psychos that play custom matches that allow every army to be available on each side.

Big myth among the war thunder fans here, T34 having better Armor than a Panzer IV, just straight up not true, they were very equal in total comparison, the reason why the T34 was such a great “UNO reverse card” was the fact that the soviets managed to turn 45mm of armor basically more or less into 80mm of armor.

The T34 was cheap but not of lesser quality, at least from the pure firepower perspective.
