Just witnessed a player earn 120+ kills in a Moscow Invasion campaign with no deaths. We were the defenders, and automatically won without losing the first point! Is the mortar too OP right now, or is this already balanced in some way?
It’s badly imbalanced yeah.
Low risk, low skill, high reward.
Either the risk needs to be raised, the skill floor needs to be raised, the reward needs to be lowered, or some combination of the 3.
It requires no skill and is anti fun, the nerfs were justified. i think its in a fine place now
I have not seen any users doing motars since the patch, they have to be insanely good at it.
Mortars now get 1/10th of their ammo as previous - if someone got 100 kills with it then the enemy miut have been standing around in the open in obvious places and not learned any lessons - probably bots. Or not…
No more OP than a MG or tank doing the same
ohh ok, but I think the enemy players were fine, its just that the map featured a narrow trench where they have to cross through to get to the first point (i forgot the invasion map). The dude prob spammed the cabin at the end of the trench
I see a lot of players using mortars in my end (RM-38 or smth). They always get top place in invasion maps, so legit im wondering if the mortar really is balanced
tbh i kinda would prefer if mortar would be like in BF1, where it would only take 60% of your health, compared to insta-kill in Enlisted, since Arty is horrifying as it is
They barely has ammo now, after spamming for a short while they need to go on infantry
Shame they didnt keep the bug that gave it a MASSIVE good nerf. Instead of being an easy spamclick crutch it actually took skill and brainpower to use. Then all the mortarscum decided to all complain about “it being useless now” because they couldnt just sit in the back and click over and over to get hundreds of kills. BRING BACK THE NERF. MAKE MORTARS HIGH SKILL.
to be honest i think the mortar is pretty good now, it has a little cooldwon before you can refill ammo so you cant spam like before. if they have to bring that bug as a nerf they should make the mortar man a special squad membet like the radioman, the engineer etc. because that is not a nerf is killing a class since after depleting the ammo you have to go into the fray with a mere 4 member squad. A really good nerf should be locking only a mortar squad per team, making the mortar impossible to use inside grey area and marking the mortarman while it shoot.
To be honnest i don’t have to many kills with a mortar and people with most kills in my games are the ones in bombers and attackers. And you get 10 mortars and have to go rifleman when depleted. Artillery spam kills also more the mortars especialy wit radiomen that hardly have any cooldown.
What if the problem lies not in the mortars, artillery, and bombs; but in the fact that many maps funnel troops into predictable kill zones?
Would there be ways to change the flow of combat through the map to better spread out troops and thereby limit or reduce the hotspots that make such easy pickings for area-effect weapons?
I’m just wondering if we need to look at the bigger picture as to why and when these weapons are so overly effective. There might be better paths to finding a balance.
