Type Hei has more stability and damage than Otsu with the same magazine. Over any range the Hei has higher relative damage, but a lower rate of fire and a longer reload time. Is it really worth replacing it with the Otsu?

Just use a bolt action. I use the noobtubes since it makes dealing with m13 cumtruck spam much easier

Nope. Sights on type hei are just superior.
Better to suffer against the cucktruck than stoop down to the level of a rifle grenade user

no thanks. jap semis suck ass anyway so i may as well have an option for dealing with the craptrack
You can kill the gunner from the front if you aim at the right pixel. I rather trust that the Emperor guides my bullets into the cowardly americans head.

i love otsu cause its japanese Zh-29 and i love czechoslovak weaponry, im astonished i can play with it for free that it is not in some premium squad, unlike tunisia axis where many interesting authentic italian things are behind paywall
i like otsu sights and that gun has high horizontal recoil, cause its fuckin unique and realistic, unlike fuckin AVT-40 aka recoilless riflle lol soviet bias STG for kids that cannot play without counter to STG
its dispersion is questionable however, but its ROF and reload speed is way better than hei rifle , but i like both hei and otsu
though japanese used neither of the two

is this a error, on stats? that the latter gun is worse stat wise, or once you own it , it has totally diff stats from the original stats, lol

The Otsu does well in CQB due to it’s higher rate of fire especially assaulting points.

Nine banzai japs with little flags on a broken Type 99 are just superior. But I need good semi-auto too

In my opinion both rifles suck. If you really want to compete use the type 99 or the type 38 rifles.
Both are very good bolt action rifles and outperform almost all other bolt actions in the game with their good damage and low recoil making follow up shots very easy
There is no reason to use japanese semi autos

In my experience bolt actions are superior to both of them. Type 38 has all the rate of fire you may need from a rifle, everything else (and there isn’t much else with the way Pacific maps are) can be done with an SMG.

On paper, Otsu is worse than Hei.
But in game it’s not the case. The important point is the 2 seconds only reload time. Which means unlike the Hei, you can SPAM shots without much worries (which the improved rof also encourage). Recoil is also negligible, even if it’s SUPPOSED to be worse than Hei.
Get those. Only downside is upgrade prices.

Personally, I’m just hoping they introduce some better semiautos in general for Japan; we’re still missing the long variants of the Type Hei and Otsu as well as the short version of the Type Ko, and the sniper Ko and Hei.
I really, really hope they give us a 10 round Type Hei long variant, as well as its sniper derivative, as well as correcting the nonsensically low velocity for all Japanese semiautos. Ideally, the long Hei/sniper Hei would also not be gimped in the reload and RoF departments for whatever reason.
I prefer Otsu ironsights to Hei.

I use both Type 38 and Type Hei, Pacific is the only campaingn where I use the secondary weapon upgrade. I know that japs bolt actions are really good, but in short/mid range i prefer the semi-auto rifles. There are some advantages like 1v1 superiority and multi-kills that a bolt action struggles to cope with. I don’t think the semi-autos are that weak, just have to use them in their context.
