I used to think that while they were really powerful, maybe Flamethrowers weren’t necessarily the easiest to use. Boy was I wrong. I recently unlocked my first flamethrower squad, and so far it definitely seems like one of the easiest weapons to use in the game. In my first game with a flamethrower I managed to get 18 kills in like 20 seconds. It’s ridiculous.
Flamethrowers aren’t really OP but they are in a really good envioment in enlisted.
Most maps have a lot of buildings (guess where flamethrowers work the best) and a lot of enemies are AI that doesn’t shoot back.
Im just going to leave this here
Though tbh, they, as well as phosphorus grenades, have been nerfed a lik bit since this was recorded.
Those, be it good or bad, are now a shadow of their original selves.
in my opinion,
( and yes, there’s bias, but an objective one. i promised )
needs to be strong.
because flamethrower were somewhat good for their intended role
( such as clearing mostly cqc areas. such as bunkers, trenches and what not )
and in enlisted, i’m satisfied how they work.
what i’m not satisfied with though, it’s how unrelistic they are.
for example, they can carry rifles. which, in reality, due to the weight and what not, they usually only carried sidearms.
the other issue is, they can run while firing the flames.
now, a stick like me never carried or fired a flamethrower but i’m fairly sure you can’t do that.
you’d burn your self, and above all, it’s quite heavy. the pressure from the flamethrower it self and the fact that you are moving with petrol strapps on your back, does not allow you to fire like it’s some sort of water gun.
which should be fixed.
for example, a best solution that i could think is, you cannot fire your flamethrower unless you are aiming.
that way, you slow down the operator, his ability to spin 360 ( which it’s also dumb ) and overall, make the flametrooper more slower.
i’d say if they do that, it would actually make them balanced, and still strong.
but that’s just me.
They are no where near as strong as they used to be.
I dont mind them at the moment
they are useless against anyone with eyes and autimatic weapon. when flametrash comes at me, i usually have enough time to just shoot him off and even extingush myself (and i’m even not that steroidal monster with perfectly rolled perks, including +35% hp)
Lol no, it is even worst irl, soldiers burn to death during hours, if they don’t die they stay burned all their lives
They might be strong, but flametroopers are targeted more than any other infantry class and their lifespan is quite short.
For me, whenever I see a flametrooper… he is the TOP PRIORITY to kill before anybody else.
The early ones aren´t that bad to deal with but the later ones (Flammenwerfer 41, M2 Flamethrower and whatever the other Soviet one is called) have some pretty good range. Not as far as in irl I believe but for videogame standards they´re the snipers of videogame flametrowers.
This I’ll agree with. Overall, I’m not really complaining, I’m happy to get easy kills. That said, if we wanted to make the game more realistic I’d say that your shouldn’t be able to sprint at all with flame throwers (since the real things were like 70-80 lbs fully loaded). They already do this with AT rifles, and I think be a good addition to flamethrowers.
Also, there is the issue with having a primary weapon AND a flame thrower. They do this with Anti-Tank troopers too. I think this should be possible, but you should have to take the secondary weapon perk. Otherwise, the flamethrower or AT gun are your primary weapon. And you could of course bring in a sidearm if you wanted once that perk is unlocked too. Granted, some people may not want to take these classes into battle because of this, but that’s their choice to make. There’d still be trade offs, and it would be more realistic.
Yeah, i’ve learned to do this too. Especially if I’m sniping and see that flamethrower on his back.
Yeah, granted those 18 kills were in the new pacific map, on the beached ship. Hella tight quarters, and that’s where the flamethrower excels.
still suck to bullet arms in DPS so you might easily erase clownthrower imo. also bots focusing them a lot. it might be useful in buildings but fact that you burn yourself quite fast ruins that possibility
So it wasn’t the case of flamethrowers being OP but an example of good use of them.
Had an interesting match on the new map where somebody was lying down under water next to the crashed flying boat, burning people through the whole plane. Definitely not broken at all.
You have them, the enemy has them… looks pretty even to me
Well that’s ridiculous. IRL you couldn’t even stand up if you had a flamethrower on you. They were too heavy.
Best way to counter this is spray an enemy squad so no matter who the player is controlling, he´s only seeing red and yellow.
Well mine sure don´t, you can´t rely on bots to do pretty much anything. Extra lives is all they are for most of the time.
Flamethrowers have flame resistance now so you survive flames much better and don´t have that arm sway effect other soldier classes get.
Flamethrower squads have become really useful and are very good at wiping objectives clean. But they´re tricky to use hence why only few players use them.
