I ask because I think at this point we may not see the ability to pick what theater or campaign were fighting in till them, was this not promised over a year ago now?

No, they never promised you would be able to pick theaters or campaigns.
But a preferred map system of some sort was planned

But they did promise we would be able to choose soldiers nationality (and voices).
Sadly, hell is still very much burning.

According to our only CM now, everything that was on road map is still planned.
As far as I know, nothing has changed. The 2024 roadmap is still on.
And in the words of our great ex-CM, it’ll be… Soon ™.
