Invasion of Manchuria (Operation August Storm), USSR/Japan (campaign draft)

Just an idea for a potential scenario that we would not get the merge update in the nearest future (obviously it is even less likely that our design could be completed in any reasonable time if it was to be considered, but it was fun thinking about what could have been. Plus, maybe developers could get an idea or two from here)

Presenting another “Invasion of” kind of campaign, Invasion of Manchuria. In the final months of WW2, the armed forces of the Soviet Union will have to face off against the last opponent still standing after the bloody war that had taken millions of lives: the Land of the RIsing Sun, on the verge of its defeat.

We (me and @Killerwolf1024) planned out a total of 37 campaign levels, as well as some ideas for GO and event/premium vehicles and weapons. We also made a design document, occasionally explaining our choices, but mostly describing the new content that could have been added.

also, with the merge around the corner, i doubt we’ll get anything of the kind as a campaign.
since campaigns will be merged.

at best, a map.

but i doubt even that.

you can mod your self similar missions with that goal like the member above did though.

I know. It’s precisely why I mentioned in the beginning that it’s a “what if” suggestion, with mostly marked with * equipment (some already will be present, but it was also an attempt to integrate it if possible) that could be integrated otherwise post-merge, but presented as a campaign because it was fun to attempt to arrange it this way, nothing more.

It isn’t so historical though……A lot of modifications have been made for balance, but still not perfect. Of course, although asymmetric warfare may be basically balanced, it requires extremely high cooperation from both camps (Need to leverage their respective favorable conditions). This reminds me of the battles between the US military and Middle Eastern guerrillas in the game SQUAD.
That’s probably also why DF hates historical accuracy and turns to simple symmetrical battles.

I suggest you only play with friends who are familiar with the map, otherwise you won’t have a great time playing… At the same time, this is not a map that has long-term appeal, maybe I will expand it in the future, but not recently
