→ Optionally Officersquad with just 1x Officer + 1x Driver as unarmed Bike/Jeeptransporter, while he can use its ability out of the vehicle
Weponary:
Officer carrys only SMGS and special secondary weapon (Whistle or Megaphone):
The secondary weapon creates a aura (similar to HE shell burstradius), a whisteling or a fightingcall like “for king and country” is heard, in wich all soldiers get buffed for TimeX (maybe 3min., even if they leave the aura after acrivating the skill), the buff increases running/aiming/reloading speed of every affected soldiers by X (maybe + 20 % Walking/Running, + 10 % aiming, + 50% reloading)
The short but powerfullbuff must provide worth to play with a squad of only 3 Soldiers
I’m not totally against the idea of an Officer class, but I’m afraid that “team buffs” are a can of worms.
First of all, what exactly would be buffed? Speed? Stamina? Health? Bots accuracy? Artificially buffing any of those stats, although momentarily, sounds like a step away from realism.
Should the Officer boost team’s morale then? That would make sense, except we do NOT have a morale system in the game, nor would it be a good idea to have one, in all likelihood (unless people enjoy seeing their bots panicking and running away).
Moreover, a team buff ability should have the same restrictions as radio artillery (long cooldown, only 1 active at once).
No Running away just buff for speed up every action of friendly soldiers except firering speed since its depending on the weapon not the soldiers skills (motivating skill), maybe also debuffing enemys with malus to the above stated skills decrease enemy Relaod/Running/Aiming -speed (create fear skill)
→ Radius could be like 50kg or 200kg Bomb
→ Time maybe 2-3 min
If ever, I think I’d rather have Officers provide small passive buffs, than temporary big boosts.
EXAMPLE: you put an Officer in a squad (instead of another specialist), and as long as the Officer is alive, that squad gets a 10% (placeholder value) boost to things like construction speed, cooldown of other abilities, and perhaps speed of capturing zones.
Did anyone play “Lego star wars the complete saga”? If you remember there was a enemy called b1 commander droid, (this guy):
This droid could call in reinforcements. I suggest if officers are added that they are allowed to call in AI squads that don’t subtract from the team points and that players can spawn on the officer (if they’re still alive).
Ai quality is not enough to benefit from that right now
Than just we could let him build spawnpoints or ad an engineer to his squad, since you cant even spawn in objectives near the officer would always have to hold distance of 50 m wich would make him forece the player to endless boredome
Allow the officers spawn to be closer to the capture point and don’t count the officer to as a rally point slot.
Also I think that officers shouldn’t be a class, instead it should be something you assign to to a trooper. And whilst that trooper is alive they give overall bonuses (reload speed, stamina regen, etc)
