The craters mechanic for bombs was a great start but it would be even better if we could implement the same mechanic for:
-tank shells -artillery -satchel charges
If you go on Warthunder you can already see that even tank shells as small as 50mm will leave tiny impacts on the terrain. Also artillery should definitely leave craters although not as large as bombs. The size of the craters wouldn’t be big enough to be disruptive unless the area was constantly being fought over.
It’s currently a bit immersion breaking to call in artillery or shoot a HE shell and have no impact on the terrain other than a shell mark on the wall.
Also seeing as the code for deformation already exists in this game for bombs, and the code for deformation already exists in warthunder for tank shells, it should be relatively easy to implement.
