The M2 12.7mm heavy machine gun for the allies for example. The game currently only has their use on vehicles, but they were used by infantry from placed nests too. Give it limited ammo like the field gun and AA. It still has a slow rate of fire. It would give some much needed middle ground between the MG nest and AA. Have similar options for all nations obviously (I don’t know Soviet or German history very well, so idk which they would use).

i would be happy if only they adjusted angles. they are so narrow now that MG nest is unusable.

Soviets could get quad maxims, a not very good counter though, unless one wants to nerf the M2, to the point it becomes a parody of itself? Or at least make maxim have redeeming features of it’s own - though, considering that we don’t have Soviets versus Western Allies matches, aside from some custom battles, this may not be too big of an issue.
There were (captured and other equipment), but these were in limited numbers. Considering that Developers just pretend to follow history in most cases, this may not be too much of a problem.

Or they could use the DShK and MG 131 respectively. Those are both closer in caliber to the M2
