care to mention which ones ?
My sophisticated guess would have been FG42 being the heaviest and even that is ~5kg ?
I highly doubt the T20 or AVT is any heavier.
Sure, its automatic rifle but served pretty much in sort of lmg role.
Well when you put it that way, I honestly dont give a fk what they add to BR5 its sort of a lost cause already.
But since we cant have too much of nice things, id much rather add the crappiest BAR to low BR and adjust its stats so it fits there.
In it’s current state yes, but things can and should be changed on the SF version.
so in addition to adding the same weapons repeatedly to the tech tree, you want them to also magically have different stats
I’m sure this wouldn’t confuse new players at all having identical weapons perform differently and go to different classes

Well, welcome to game balancing, stats are magicly different here.
It’s a game, game solutions are acceptable.
I’m sure they wouldn’t either, because there’s no way for you to look at them at the same time except in the tech tree (sounds like another tech tree issue, maybe it should be more clearer as well as less bloated). You can’t pull up the options to give a soldier a MG or SF rifles, you can’t get them both up at the same time when purchasing from the store either.

You are making it way too serious. It is online space, not an actual forum.
I think we can agree the post-merge techtree is a mess. But it generally fits the expectation that forgotten, experimental, and novel weapons belong to higher br. It doesn’t have to be actually novel, simply sound and look unfamiliar/alien/cool is enough for an average gamer. The whole issue of battle rifle over assault rifle in-game builds on people’s power fantasy. At br5, we do have the most amount of unproven weapons and these meta weapons all have insane firepower. In other words, current balance of br5 weapons are way above “ww2 level”. It would just be weird to adjust bar’s stats to match those weapons because it doesn’t fit the established public conception of a bar.
I don’t want to dwell too much on the historical aspect, and I very much agree with the effort to utilize existing assets to make changes. Still, there has to be some Japanese input in one of their best weapons. Even that m2 saw-off abomination, with some tweaks to its info, would be more acceptable. At the end of the day, every JP br5 player will continue to use type hei 24/7. That’s my feeling for your proposal as well. Adding the so-called automatic rifle category can’t solve the fundamental problem of SF weapons. It isn’t about categories but power level. You have to essentially turn bar into t20 and it defeats the whole purpose of getting rid of prototypes.
Hey, if the fighting intensity at br5 is not that crazy. New weapon classification would actually work because there was an unused node called something like elite soldier update in the soldier update tree before one of the major overhauls. Who knows what the devs’ original intention was.
It might not be important to you, but it is important to me. I know I got issues, but I strive to be better.

The “issue” to struggle, fight, and overcome yourself today, just to become a better “you” tomorrow, is something i highly respect and apprecciate.
Just wanted to add this little offtopic note.
Something ‘near’ topic: Forget this “FG is a LMG”-BS. We already have an expert on this who digged a rabbit hole deeper than the mines of moria in this forum. Sure, it was somehow entertaining but it caused some kind of wasted PTSD, too.
Best regards, thx for your posts (wether i agree or not) and please do not take the last past too serious or as an assault.

Rather this or if they nerf SF rifles, we can introduce a new class being the “Automatic riflemen” class as I saw someone else in the past insist where they have a lighter lmg with a low capacity. And they’d be separate br4 versions with the same stats but different class.
-
America gets the BAR A2
-
Russia gets hopper fed DP or lend leased bren at br4
-
Germany gets a br4 FN 1930
-
Japan would get the Type 96 at br4
To get one in a squad you’d have to sacrifice a specialist slot, and you could get 3 of them in a riflemen team with the 3rd one being at the cost of a specialist slot as well.

Interesting, very interesting.
Thanks. Just wouldn’t know how to introduce it. Perhaps Instill it as a class and then make it obtainable by promoting normal riflemen via veteran upgrades being brought back to the game
