There are many historians here in the English-speaking part of the forum, including those who know the German planes of WW2.
I am a proponent of Normandy aircraft progression rather than tanks, as tanks already got extremely strong specimens in the form of the jumbo, panther, tiger and sherman 76w.
I wouldn’t want to see a king tiger and something from the usa next. They are too bulky and scary tanks.
Planes, on the other hand, are pretty monotonous, and while I think they are strong and dominant in Normandy and have made a thread about it: suggesting a longer respawn against kamikazes and adding more ground threats, I would like to fly some interesting machines.
Here I wanted to get an opinion on some possible Axis planes before making a suggestion, for the Allies I have already found a lot of information and worthwhile planes in the form of Seafire and spitfire. This is British planes, but they are good and there were a lot of them.
For the Axis I see options like this:
Me 262 A1a - the first jet fighter aircraft of the game. Bold and a little crazy, but poor maneuverability on small maps will hold it back. Plus it’s only a fighter jet, which isn’t so terrible anymore. It could get R4M air-to-air missiles, it would be interesting to try them out.
The Me 262s were definitely used specifically in Normandy.
Do-335 B-2 - it could be as a fighter with two 250kg bombs (roughly like the US p51), or as an attack aircraft with two 250kg bombs and a 500kg bomb. The A-0 and A-1 are bad, as they have all the same mediocre handling and maneuverability, but are poorly armed and have no bombs. The actual pluses are armament and speed, the disadvantages are controllability and maneuverability.
Kind of like in terms of history sometimes they were used.
The Ta-154 A-1 is a twin-engine fighter with good guns, but no bombs. Least interesting to me, but it seems there were quite a few of them.
Suggest more options and tell me your opinion on these. In the future I will make specific suggestions including historical background, pros and cons, along with options for allies.

I don’t remember the name of it, but the Germans had this plane that would carry another plane filled with explosives under it. The top plane would drop the bottom plane, and the bottom plane would glide to target, and explode. I am not sure if they were used in Normandy, or it was something the Germans did later in the war, but I would still like to see it in the game.
What’s more? Why them, in what role, with what outboard armament?
Why are they worth playing about 40 levels?
P.S. as much as I think the P47 is insanely strong and didn’t want it, I would like the Axis to have German planes
To match the 262, you can add the Meteor which entered service in the middle of Overlord, so it should be fine by the devs standard. You can also add the P-61 with 4 500lb bombs, or maybe the A-26 with the same payload.
For the Germans, maybe the Fw 190 D-9, with 4 50kg bombs and 1 250 kg bomb as a match for the P-51 D? It’s not the most inspired solution, but it is probably the one that will appeal to the devs the most because of how easy it is (litterally Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V from Berlin and then change it to be a fighter).
You should google those first two before you take my comment seriously
edit: added another fun one
Yes, I confess that I remembered about ho 229 later.
Well, then let’s also bv 238)
Meteor maybe, but I would like to see spitfires and see an example of asymmetry in the form of the fast but unmaneuverable me 262 and the extremely maneuverable but inferior by speed seafire or spitfire.
About the bombs: two 250kg or 500lb bombs is the limit that a fighter can have. My opinion is generally 1 bomb at 250kg, but the p51 with two is already there, so the limit is
Fw190 I don’t want. Nasty uncontrollable and twitchy airplane. The 250kg bomb is not much better than the two wfr21s, so it would be the worst top level plane.
If it’s going to be like that, it’s awful.
He 111 for dual flight with your friend, both has aircraft control))))
I doubt we are going to get Spitfires, as most of the period accurate ones would arguably be worse than the P-51 D. Also, I think the devs are going to give the Allies an attacker and the Germans a fighter, so that the campaign levels balance out to 3 attack planes and 4 fighter planes on both sides. Do 335 would be great and I would also prefer it to the Fw 190 D, but unfortunately knowing the devs, they will just be lazy.
That’s why I’m preparing a topic with a breakdown of options, I hope not to see passing levels with mediocre things at level 40
I don’t think the seafire with 2 hispano will be worse than the p51. Plus a turnaround in 16 seconds and almost 700 km top speed.
Yes it is the best all-purpose fighter that can still take a couple of bombs
Problem is, most of the period accurate Spitfires don’t carry bombs or rockets. Spitfires are primairly interceptor aircraft, and have no use for hardpoints, or at least that is what the British thought.

This seafire
A worthy exchange. Axis gets Me262 or do335 (don’t even know which is more fun, I’d like both: the first as a fighter, the second as a ground attack aircraft)
And allies such a seafire and something else
The seafire in service during 1944 was the Mk III, or this one:

Maybe Do 335 against P-61 to make each side have an equal amount of fighters and attackers, then 262 against Meteor? I think that would work.
Nah mate it’s gonna be a bf 109 from Berlin, I’m calling it
I know the mk 17 was a little late, but for the sake of allies not being offended, I would have given it.
The mk3 is better in maneuverability but it hasn’t bombs, which will frustrate many.
Oh no, I’m sick of the same copypaste. Millions of experiences for nothing. That’s not right. I should be screaming “oh my god I want this” at the last few levels.
Problem is, if memory serves me correctly, the Mk 17 is a post war design, so I don’t know if the devs can even BS that much. Mk IIIs were still being flown when the Americans captured Okinawa, so yeah.
Think of some good options then and email me. I know you love history.
I’d like really cool levels at the end, not dull copypasta. We should try to make them that way.
I think P-61 and Do 335 are probably good, both are unique and have all sorts of fun quirks to them. Would defenetly beat another P-47 and another 190.
