I agree, let’s remove the red circle for enemy artillery, it makes no sense

Either that or add red circle for enemy mortar fire (which is the point I’m trying to make).

The whole concept of mortars being present in game is extremely lame.
You’re just sitting behind a hill, throwing explosives at the enemy.
The enemy literally has no way to defend against that. Even the planes can’t mark you, the enemy mortar has no way of knowing where you are.

The only fortunate thing is that playing mortars is an extremely boring and not satisfying thing to do.
And realistically, you need to have very good knowledge of the game to do it. To guess where enemies will build rally points etc.
A newbie and an average player won’t do anything exceptional with a mortars.

But I really don’t think setting up a mark distance is somewhat game breaking. That’s not the real problem with concept of mortars.

I have been playing since closed beta - and I have never even once used mortars before.

I dont think a nerf is justifiable at all, Mortars can be annoying, but that’s about it.

You missed good times with them where one mortar soldier could wipe out 100 people… with the 40mm version.

Those were the days :smirk:

considering how many times mortars have been nerfed, i think they are fine as they are currently.

  • no longer accurate / dispersion is actually prominent
  • heavy mortars ROF was nerfed
  • you no longer can refill up to 10 times from a box ( thankfully )
  • you can no longer aim through the minimap in battlefield style

and, mortars can be useful with smokes.

they are an asset.

just like arty, bombs, or he from tanks.

it just differs the way things gets used.

only problem, are objectives that are 20 meters in trenches or wide open areas.
but hardly a mortar’s fault.

Is there really anyone who doesn’t know this?
Mortars are still incredibly crappy despite this rangefinder and infinite ammunition, especially the BR5 mortars.

The reason that the high BR ones are “crappy” is because they have next to no splash damage and hit pinpoint meaning you have to hit directly on an enemy basically

They are PURELY anti tank.

I’ve walked right next to these dropping and didn’t even phase me one bit

I use them for the task “Get x kills with special weapons” (ie flamethrowers, ATR, mortars) - I might get 30+ kills in a good game with them but often it takes 2 - depends on the map, how bunched the opposition wants to be, etc.
