Initial Impressions After Starting a F2P Alt-account

So, starting an alt account really shows a couple things with the new system.

First off: The game does not explain how to unlock new squad types clearly. Previously, you could clearly identify these from the campaign tree. With the research tree, you just have a squad icon. I would recommend changing the squad icon to the squad type icon to more clearly define where to get specific squads. I would also add a tooltip to it if you are hovering over it that explains, researching this gives you a X squad for your lineup selection.

Secondly: I feel a UI tutorial would do wonders. Show where to see BR equipped and a brief overview, show where to unlock things, show where to buy new things, etc. just a simple arrow and window pop up with a next button to go through it would be sufficient. I would put a skip option, but keep the skip option away from the next button or top right corner to avoid accidental closing or selection. I’d probably put the ā€œSkip Tutorialā€ on the bottom left but when you do, point to the tutorials to show you where to start it if you do end up needing it.

Tertiary: Starting silver needs to be addressed. when you are established with your main squads its fine to have the current, but when you have nothing and are getting all your equipment you need a better boost. Recommend either a New Player Boost that boosts Silver gains by 200%+? amount for 7? days, or alternatively a [FREE] New Player Pass that gives lots of silver for challenges that are EASILY obtainable with the starting classes. Remember, new players leaving is something we don’t want, so lets make their life as best as possible.

Finally: Please for the love of all that is holy, add an engineer to the medic squad you start with as an upgrade option. Especially since we no longer start with the Assaulter I squad that could.

The idea of DF is that if you are interested in this game and want to continue playing, you will find that the system is giving you too little silver.

Then DF tell you that by opening up a premium account, you can gain 2x research experience and silver income! also two additional slots! This is really worth it!

So DF successfully turned a F2P player into a paying player. As for the rewards for new players, this game does have similar things. I remember every new player can receive a free 3-day premium account.

You know, I think the biggest issue is simply everything being way too expensive, new players need the silver, especially because they don’t know their own playstyle yet, they need the cash to experiment with gear.

There is no problem with veterans having a long term goal and something to grind for, even if your some sidegrades, but new players need to unlock stuff fast to keep them playing the game.

I feel like Enlisted is one of the most newbie-unfriendly games there is, alongside War Thunder.

The whole design concept feeling like 2000s or mobile games. Cluttered, overloaded with crap, with lots of words trying to explain what’s going on in huge lines of text in the UI itself.

At least we now have just Silver instead of gold orders, silver orders, bronze orders for both weapons, vehicles and soldiers.
But there’s still also Silver, Gold, vehicle upgrade cards, weapon upgrade cards, squad upgrades, soldier upgrades, XP, etc.

BRs, Tiers, ranks, stars on all soldiers and weapons.
Do they have any correlation?
No.

A soldier can be of rank 5 with 3 stars, have a BR 2 weapon with 4 stars that is from tier 3.

Also I can’t imagine how a new player is supposed to guess where to upgrade gun X, how do you find which squad has its upgrade tree?

I guess that’s more of a problem of a veteran player with 100 squads but also how on earth do I find which squad has KV-1 and which has Pz IV F2/G that’s not even in the research tree anymore?

The research tab is a mess as well.
Tiers don’t correspond to BRs, some guns come with squads and some don’t.

A player who launched the game at least once before the Merge now had Pz IV J unlocked but in order to get the next Pz IV H they’d need to research and buy all the useless Italian low tier crap tanks and all the Pz IIIs before that, which would cost hundreds of thousands of silver I assume.

And don’t forget about the UI in the match itself - clownfest of golden stars and tree icons with Chinese, Russian and English characters all spamming the kill feed that you can’t even disable.

ā€œYou are controlling the vehicle movementā€ every time you’re in a tank, no shit Sherlock, and or course you can’t disable this popup.

You’re a new player on BR1?
Welcome to the jungle, here’s the boss of this gym if not on BR3 with Pz IV J and flamethrowers, then at least with 9-man squads full of impact grenades and ap mines.

Ah and don’t forget - BUY PREMIUM.

TLDR this game must be really rough for newbies

This is unfortunately the same logic some streamers use with followers only chat … in theory, yes you get followers … but in actuality it actually turns more away.

Honestly, This experience with a fresh account, even as someone that has 4000+ games played … DF really needs to focus on new player experience … probably even more so then balancing. If you want the game to live this has to take priority by at least one of the development teams within DF … Im not sure how many DF has, but I know many studios have multiple teams working on different things.

DF should delete their own account and start with a new one and see what it’s like for new players because this game is cancerous to new players unless you have premium but even if you have it it’s still not that great.
