Hi, thank you for your post and clearly good research.
I fully support the addition of the Lewis gun and strongly question why it hasn’t been added already.
Like others I’m rather tired of the Allied tree being limited purely to Bren guns and BARs.
As for the tier, personally I think tier II should be acceptable. First of all, the existing Soviet Lewis is a premium and should be treated as such.
Second, lets face it Allies dont have very good weapons at lower ranks.
Like the Germans get to use the MP40 at rank II, one of the best SMGs of WWII, Allies are stuck with crappy grease guns and a copy of the MP28 (which is a rank 1 German SMG).
I understand those are SMGs, my point is simply that we already have a situation where some trees have better tanks, others have better rifles, others have better SMGs. The Allies having a slightly better LMG wont in my opinion ruin the game.
But if the Lewis needs to be BR III, so be it.
Lee Enfield Mk I is a good suggestion. I will be advocating for a separate UK-Commonwealth tree in my own post so I agree it is necessary that British-Commonwealth troops should get to use a rifle other than a Springfield. Perhaps the P14 and Lee Enfield Mk I could be a folder and players can choose which one they prefer.
Id happily see the Krag included, personally I think it should be a part of a small Norwegian sub tree within a separate UK Commonwealth tree. DF could add some Norway battles which would add a proper snow map for Allies as well.
Your German rifle ideas are good and I have no issue with them, however I would question whether we need any more rifles for Germany. What rifle did the Hungarians use?
I don’t play Soviets or Japan so won’t comment on those although one or two more Japanese rifles could be good.
