Since the enlisted “roadmap” released, I had wondered about the new class of soldier they could create.
I think a spy/saboteur class would be awesome.
It would be a single soldier, meaning know ai squad mates that spawns behind enemy lines in the enemy uniform. It would be able to destroy rallies or blow up vehicles in the greyzone even.
The catch is once you do any damage to enemy team, the AI will recognize you as an enemy and start shooting. You may also only be able to bring in a pistol or a weaker suppressed weapon perhaps? Just a thought.
Grey zones exist for a reason, if a tank is camping then use an AT gun, a tank, or a plane to take it out. Any enemy rallies worth destroying won’t be in the greyzone, so flank and destroy the ones that are a threat.
Personally thinking that it’ll be like a raider class or an officer class, idk. I’m hoping it will be a jeep class or something and SPAA, armored cars, etc get out of my tank slots.

Anyway whatever they gonna add it better be so different than another vehicle base class I’m getting tired of those tbh I prefer new mechanic than renaming (and no just cause it a new vehicle doesn’t mean it a new mechanic, and no APC aren’t really that unique in fact rider could have just got it imo)
Some people think it would be some type of “Elite” soldier class i.e. Rangers/Guards/etc which retroactively becomes the home for full auto rifles. It would be a big nerf to 9 man autorifle squads and would both make you sacrifice more men for that firepower as well as reduce the amount of it a player could bring if everyone only has one or two squads of them.
While I do love my autorifles and it would be an extreme change, I think overall it would be better for the health of high BR play.
The only other thing that even sounds remotely plausible is some sort of Officer class which could buff the AI around them into terminators I guess?
obviously the new class is gonna be another vehicle base class cause that the definition of a “new class” nowadays instead of putting those vehicles in underuse class such as rider but whatever that DF decision
unless it officer in which case i bet it gonna be about buffing infantry or some shuck
Most of the proposed classes and ideas people have had have just been downright atrocious because it’s been labeled as a new class when it can be extended from a existing class, would break the game, would not be fun, or just doesn’t have a place in the game.
These include:
Spy/saboteur class (severely ruins the balance of the game)
Rider (both this and driver should have been motorized division I & II)
Shotgunner ( This was cut way early in development as it had no place)
Commander/Officer (again was cut early in development as it had no place)
The only viable class I can see would be a grenadier with anti-tank grenades/impact grenades. I say this because there’s still a fair number of people complaining about impacts and lack of anti-tank grenades. A solution like this would limit the type of grenade so it can’t be equipped on everyone and isn’t overly broken or overused.
The other option would be some sort of vehicle class since the devs think we need more vehicle play, despite this being a infantry game primarily.
In all honesty I can’t think of any other classes they could add that would have purpose in this game. But knowing DF it’s going to be something random, might be good might be bad Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
I proposed a reserve conscripts type squad in the past, as in bigger but weaker rifleman squad, with access to only weak weapons like Volkssturm gear, or Partisan weapons.
So despite every role in the game being already filled with numerous types of squads, there still are options for interesting twists.
Maybe some type of commando squad - a very small infantry squad of just 4 soldiers with no utility - but it can use “experimental weapons” like in the form of using BR4 weapons in BR3.
Or maybe a anti tank squad that specifically gets to use the super big guns - however instead of simply building them, they spawn in with a truck that actually tows them.
Or who knows, the new squad might simply be something comparable to the new rocket artillery squad, basically being the same as already existing squads.
Or what if the devs actually dare to shake up the meta by introducing a squad specifically for Assault rifles - and then putting selectfire weapons and assault rifles, and some BAR style MGs into that new unit class - while leaving SMG for Assaulters, beltfeds and other heavier MGs for MG Gunners, and Semi autos for the rest? One can only dream.
actual AA vehicles as a own vehicle class for multiple BRs would absolutely benefit the game, planes get to play the game without much opposition from ground forces.
