Improvements to shotguns

I know shotguns used to be too strong, so you nerfed them by half. I tried to play with shotguns after the nerf, but I think they are too weak now. (I always die from shotguns btw :D) Maybe they have still too much damage over long or medium distances, but too less in cqc. You should aim directly to the enemy, because otherwise you will miss it. But even a simple rifle knows that. The point of a shotgun is that the projectiles are scattered, so you don’t have to aim directly at the target. This is currently missing from the game. I think you should further decrease the range and the damage for medium ranges, but increase the scatter of the shotgun and the number of projectiles. Shotgun needs to be deadly for enemies even if you can’t directly aim them, even if they stand next to each other, but less effecive or even ineffective on medium ranges.
So I suggest the following:

  • Further nerf the damage on medium range (medium range is when for example you shoot from the second floor window to enemies in front of the building)
  • Increase the number of projectiles and the scatter of the shotgun.
  • Increase the damage in close ranges (close range is when you stand next to the door and the enemy runs through it)

They should just get restored fully, there was nothing wrong with them in the first place and i don’t remember anybody ever complaining about them

I believe they have statistics about the power of each weapon, they do not listen to crybabies.

I don’t know why they nerfed it, it was fine, yes. Restoration is also good for me, but they were maybe too powerfull on long ranges. Shotguns need a powerful and deadly close range and a medium range with small damage that’s all. Currently they are too weak for close combat especially when there are more then 2 enemies, because you have to reload after every 2 shots…

hmmm ok if they have the statistics of the power of each weapon then why on earth did they nerf the shotgun :slight_smile:

What about a second shot type for shotgun?
Buck shot for close up (useless at range)
and slugs for medium range? (good distance but no spread)

change the ammo type with shotguns using the current “change semi-auto/ full auto” button.

I don’t like this idea. 99% of the games have shotguns that are extremly short range and it always works the same way: shotgun with the longest range is meta, the rest is next to unusable.

I’d rather see the nerf reverted and keeping them restricted to assaulter class. After that maybe allow other classes like engineers to use them as well, depends on the results of the nerf removal.

Enlisted was one of the few multiplayer shooters that didn’t neuter shotguns to shit. It was nice and didn’t feel too unbalanced either, a proper nerf for pump-action shotguns would’ve been to cap the rate of fire. Not fuck everything else about the shotgun…

I’m telling ya! The best option is to have slugs/ buck shot.
The slug could be as strong as a bolt action rifle but limited distance like the Carbine.
Up close its powerful with buckshot and not totally useless at medium range with slugs.
Obviously some balancing will have to be fine tuned but overall a realistic solution to the problem.

maybe rework them to work somehwat similar to payday 2(you dont need to land all pellets to do full damage)- maning instead of super close range thir nieche would be close-mid range consistency(making them more realistic to their IRL use)
