Improvement of organizing sqads, soldiers and equipment

Playing Enlisted, one has to constantly grind, train and equip squads and soldiers.

In the current state, this is quite tedious, I find especialy for the equipment. Imagine the scenario where one wants to train a few soldiers, but equipment is of course limited:

  1. three soldiers you want to send to the academy are ready, but still assigned to a squad and equipped
  2. you go to the squad’s page, and manually unequip everything of value (which is already quite a few mouseclicks…)
  3. you replace the guys in the squad with new, unskilled soldiers, and equip them with the stuff the others were equipped with (again, lots of clicking, dragging & dropping)
  4. you send the three ready soldiers to academi, and let them train,while you use the “fresh” three soldiers
  5. you receive back one fresh, upgraded soldiers that you can now use again

If you don’t get through steps 2) and 3), the equipment those soldiers have is unavailable while the soldiers are being trained, and the stuff of the two soldiers not selected as “survivors of the academy” drops back into the inventory after academy is over.

As explained, this is a lot af clicking, dragging and dropping around constantly, and this could and should be improved considerably!

My ideas:

I) Equipment presets
System, where one can save a soldier’s current equipment, give it a name, and later can use it again for any suitable soldier (class). Equipment with different ranks/upgrade states could be handled so, that either just the best upgraded variant is used, or (selecteable) the exact upgrade state is used, that the soldier was equipped with when the preset was created.

Example:

  1. I have a sniper, equipped with rank 2 sniper rifle, a small ammo pouch, a frag grenade and a med pack…
  2. This I save as preset, and call it maybe “Sniper 1”
  3. If I select another sniper, I can now simply select preset “Sniper 1”, and the soldier will be equipped automatically.
  4. If for some reason equipment is not available, the available equipment will be put on the soldier, but a warning will pop up, indicating what is missing

II) Full inventory
Currently, there is no inventory showing all equipment we have. To see for example how many medpack I have, I have to select a soldier, click on his med pack slot, and see indicated how many pieces I have. Then if I want to see how many grenades, I click on a grenade slot, and see indicated how many grenades I have available.

What’s missing is a (tabular) inventory as one knows from e.g. roleplaying games, where we see all equipment we have, and which we can then draG6drop directly onto the soldiers we want to equip. Such an inventory could be filterable by item classes, even indicating whether or how many items are free or equipped.

Good idea! I think that what would make it a bit better is that you can assign the loadout to a certain slot so when you move soliders to slots in Solider tab they auto equip the loadout assigned to the slot in the squad. I hope i made it as clear as possible but that would eliminate clicking on each solider to equip him with loadouts all together.

This isnt a comment on the topic just a suggestion, there is a remove all equipment button, don’t want your fingers falling off. :slight_smile:

Yes the whole soldier management/ Academy UI needs to be revamped. Very cumbersome and too much clicking and dragging.

My pet peeve is in the academy interface. I see 3 soldiers of the same class that are ready to be sent to training but all i see are their names and no unit designation

Now in order to un-equip them I have to search through all my squads to find out where that are at. I need some way in the academy screen to click on a soldier and be able to remove his equipment from there

I’d love when moving soldiers INTO reserve the equipment would be switched to default/removed into inventory for other soldiers to equip. Its bit tiresome hunting secondary equipment, explosives, medkits etc. from soldiers for new ones to equip.
