Improved barbed wire fortification

So I noticed how both friendly and enemy barbed wire hurt you. so I thought why not make it work like this: so your allied barbed wire can’t hurt you or your teammates but It can hurt the enemy players on the opposing team, same for enemy teams barbed wire can’t hurt them but it can hurt you. I think this would help prevent unintended injury in-game when your teammates are trying to get into your fortified cap but keep hurting themselves in your own barbed wire.

OHH SURE LET me just build all this barbed wire in the one house that is the objective so my team can run in and out as much as they want and the enemy team cant
barbed wire is ok, it really needs a health buff and bomb resistance, but limitations make the game fun, they make the game fun

Barbwire also slows you down though, so even if teammate barbwire wouldn’t damage you it would still slow you down if you find yourself having to traverse through it.

Barbwire is in a very odd place balance wise. Its still extremely fragile, can be broken down by hand, and slows. The thing is, that even if friendly damage was removed from it (which I’m not against), but still had the slow effect, you would still have the problem of teammates breaking it down because it inconveniences them.

The reality is that there are a couple of steps that need to be taken for overall team fortification use and deconstruction:

  1. There needs to be an indicator that tells teammates that a fortification is built by a friendly WITHOUT breaking it down.
  2. There needs to be a way to tell WHO it belongs to. Perhaps it indicates by popping up with “xplayer’s barbwire” for example. This way, if a teammate feels that person is putting up fortifications to troll, they can report the correct person for such.
  3. If YOUR structures are broken down by a teammate, it should tell you whom is breaking them down. This way, if a teammate just decides to troll and breakdown a bunch of structures for no good reason, you can report them for such.
  4. The reports do need to be reviewed for wrong doing. However, instead of a simple slap on the wrist repeatedly like most games do for trolling, DF needs to take a stand against the BS. In cases of clear and obvious trolling, there should be one or two warnings, and after that they get blacklisted from standard lobbies. They can still participate in custom games, though they receive a permanent “name deco” that indicates that they are toxic.

While that may sound like a tall order, consider how many people actually take the time to set up fortifications. The number really isn’t that high. Dealing with the toxic people in terms of fortifications wouldn’t be that hard in my opinion.
