Improve weapon picking up

A few suggestions I have:

Edit: ignore the first suggestion

•if your rifle is shot it should have a small chance for you to drop it

•a animation for picking up weapons should be added

•when you pick up a weapon in place of your own weapon you should see it drop to the floor instead of teleport

•make the prompt for picking up weapons much larger (the area in which you have to point to pick it up, not the words on screen)

These I like

I think this is somewhat over complicating things. What’s your endstate ?

If the intention is to introduce a random degree of stopping a solider from firing then bring back weapon jams and stoppages.

It’s a far simpler mechanic to implement and doesn’t require extensive animation rework to the current soldier models.

No, absolutely don’t. I really don’t want to have to deal with weapon jams in the game. Dealing with constant death is enough!

Really? Idk which national army does that, but in soviets side we hold and shoot our mosins like our lives depend on it. Dropping it means dead

The reason why I doubt they will add weapon jams and shit is because its not the type of game they are aiming for. Also its going to kill playerbase more since dying constantly is enough suffering there.

Another cool thing would be if the gun would sometimes shoot small burst when the wielder is killed.

Also some guns could fire when hitting the ground like the sten or type 14

breaking MGs might be nice. But it sounds painful and would appeal to EFT players and not our current arcade audience.

Sounds like something for hardcore mode only. In normal “arcade” mode it would just bring in frustration. But if you dive in the mud for a while, an increased chance of broken weapon would be a plus for those already up for extra punishment.

The original post for me sounded like for those cases when only the opponent’s weapon is visible e.g. when he is peeking out from a window. From a few meters it’s easy to hit it, and then he’d be with full life but melee/secondary weapon only until he recovers the weapon. But those weapons may puncture walls as well sometimes, so I guess it’s not an easy to implement thing with current game engine state.

Also I guess just because a bullet bounces off from the barrel of a 20 kg MG, it would probably not fell from my hand, how would I hold it otherwise? A pistol or a smaller rifle is a different case - but I’m just guessing, no experience at all with such stuff.

We had “jams” in the CBT. Those were just longer reload animations and just for BA rifles. Imo they were ok gameplay weise. And since enlisted is casual game about shooting bots, I don’t see why not bring it back for some additional flavour and more cinematic experience (which imo should be the main target of the game).

I still remember hiding behind a tree clearing a jam while 5 enemies were advancing. Appropriate ammount of F worlds was used.

-Enemy at the gates theme starts playing-
"The man with the rifle shoots! When the man with the rifle dies, the man with the rounds picks up the rifle and shoots!"

for that exact reason.
The AI in the game is really just a joke, you just want to mow them down quick as possible and move on to what ever you were about to do cap point / plant bomb or what ever.

And for that exact reason its a big no no from me, I dont really want slaying bots to be any more nuissance as it is.

I wouldn’t mind jams under specific circumstances.

I suggested to buff fire rate of semi rifles. And for those guns, I would introduce jams, in cases where one shoots too fast, there would be a chance of jamming.
The faster you shoot, the higher the chance of the gun jamming.

And reason why? Primarily as countermeasure against people who use macros. (Which I believe was the main reason rate of fire was so drastically reduced across all semi rifles.

I’d rather improve AI by force than avoid adding features because of stupid AI.

Quite sure we all can agree with that.
But as they currently are they are nothing else than mobile spawn points and ez kills without 0 challenge.
Kinda like dota2 or lol or what ever the fk it was where u kill the minions for points.

My oh my, really? More RNG stuff?

Tbh some ppl thought that’s why malfunctions were in the game. Back then BA and semis did comparable damage so it seemed logical to nerf semi and auto weapons by giving them larger jam chance. But it was deleted from the game.

No! Hell no! It’ll make it frustrating to play.

OP was modified, now it’s not about RNG events, we’re thread hijacking.

(Otherwise, chance of weapon jam under heavy use or abuse does not need too much RNG.
If you crashland with weapon first in knee deep mud after a 10 meter fall from the roof, a weapon jam is the least you could expect, surely not much RNG necessary to temporarily wreck your rifle. Still I don’t need it in current casual gameplay.)

What the heck? You guys can’t just completely change the topic like that lol
