The current mg42 fires painfully slow, and honestly it’s just disrespectful to have such a legendary gun nerfed like this for no reason. Obviously I understand that with a heavy bolt the mg42 had 900 rpm but a heavy bolt wasn’t standard issue on the mg42. At the minimum just change the name of the current mg42 to MG42 with heavy bolt and Make it BR3 and add a normal mg42 with 1200 rpm and make it mid BR4.

I’m all for a tech tree MG42/MG34 with 100 rounds.
The 42 can be balanced with 1100 fire rate and it seem acceptable. The reason why I say this is you’re not dumping your entire magazine in 0.2 seconds, you have a reasonable fire rate and a good size belt. It would feel smooth to use. Keep in mind with upgrades that would bring its fire rate to 1250. Which some may argue would be excessive, so perhaps the 1100 can be the upgrade rate of fire.
Perfect tech tree weapon for BR V.
For events 1200 rpm mg42 with 200 round belt to put it on par with the stinger. Technically it would be better than the stinger if only for the 40 extra fire rate.

I’m meaning balanced for the weapon itself It’s not going to eat through the entire magazine ridiculously fast. It’s not just the maxim that they have to balance it with They also have to balance it with other weapons from the Americans tree. You have to remember higher rate of fire = less accuracy. Even if somebody fires it and burst fire they’re going to have less of a likelihood of sending a single round or two out with that kind of fire rate. But if it’s any consolation, I do think the Maxim and the Browning need to be brought up in fire rate. 600 for Tier 5 LMG is ridiculous. Should have honestly been at least 750. Just like the Browning I could see that going to 800.
Exactly, good reference. I’ve covered this and there are many sources to back it up. I also previously mentioned in one of my posts how it deserves to have more ammo. At least 150 - 200 or 250. Like how it was intended.
But the M2 Stinger barely has any recoil.

All machine guns have a spread debuff, so the faster lmg just has a better chance in any duels. or alternatively, if we make the machine gun debuff on mg42 more noticeable, making it less playable and enjoyable for extra ammo. Does that sound like a good idea? don’t think so. I prefer less ammo but old one monster
